Following the Great American Revolution, the land was prosperous. So prosperous in fact that the lands of the East were becoming full... so hearing of wide open spaces and fertile land for farming, the great migration began... on a journey to a better life... to the Wild West.
It was also a spiritual journey, along with the physical one. The light of the Lord showed them the path as they sought to conquer the land their father’s fought for, from SEA TO SHINING SEA. It was their MANIFEST DESTINY!
So they hitched up their wagons, bought their supplies, and found a guide to lead them through the treacherous mountains on a path many would come to know as the Oregon Trail.
The going was slow and never easy. Improper planning, disease, disaster, and enemies took many lives.
Many have heard about the story of the Tortoise and the Hare...
But have you heard about the Turtle in the GRAPES OF WRATH?

Many of these BRAVE Pioneers in the beginning left their homes and all they’d ever known... with only FAITH and HOPE and DREAMS... Their family and friends probably thought they were crazy!
Along the way, they fought off Indians and Mexicans, and Bears, oh my!
Nothing was going to stand in their way! Not caterpillars, or walruses, or witches with their flying monkeys!
For they followed the LIGHT💡!

They knew they had to TRUST THE PLAN!
Some decided to stop and settle along the way... populating great cities which would become stepping stones along the way. Some persevered through all, and when they reached the Pacific Ocean it was GLORIOUS!
They sent letters and stories back home to the East, and sent pastors to preach the good word. The West had been won and it was more beautiful than they could imagine... they even found GOLD!
And thus began the Great GOLD RUSH and the FLOOD of people that would come after...
But the ones that came later did not always find the great opportunities those early Pioneers did. Like in the Grapes of Wrath, they found there was no more gold in the river and the land was already owned. So they toiled and slaved for the big land owners that got their first.
