Top takeaway from #IranDisinfo: the US' polarisation on social media makes it a sitting target for foreign influence attempts.

Here's another one. Unlikely to be the last.

Entertaining to see LibertyFront sharing Sputnik.

Birds of a feather...

Wondering whether @guardian or @Newsweek had a syndication agreement with LibertyFrontPress...

Or @Independent

Often see this with influence operations: sites designed to implant messaging take content from genuine sites, to make themselves look legit.

The websites which @FireEye identified make interesting reading.

BritishLeft
Real Progressive Front

Targeting liberal anger against Trump, the UK Conservatives, and Israel, inter alia.

Exploiting perceived vulnerabilities.

A fascinating tidbit here. Iranian accounts masking as supporters of Bernie Sanders, but promoting an Iranian public holiday.

Sanders supporters were one of the main groups targeted by the Russian troll farm, too.

Even more interesting: per @FireEye, one account, called @USResistance1, was set up in April 2018 with an Iranian phone number.

Another changed its name to @Berniecratss in July 2018.

Targeting progressives' anger, yet again.
