Whoa: Someone inside Trump Admin wrote an anonymous op-ed saying insiders are thwarting him: “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration. We work for the president but we have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations” nytimes.com/2018/09/05/opi…
Senior Trump official: "Our duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic. [We] vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions…[He's] amoral, impetuous, adversarial, petty, ineffective."
Exasperated Trump admin officials admit their daily disbelief at Trump’s comments and actions. “Most are working to insulate their operations from his whims.” This @nytimes op-ed confirms the Woodward book’s remarkable details of Trump’s unfitness & danger to the country.
“The root of the problem is the president’s amorality…not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making.” He “attacks conservative principles,” he’s “anti-trade and anti-democratic.” But there are “bright spots” wtf
"The result is a two-track presidency." On Russia: Trump was reluctant to expel so many Putin spies over Skripal poisoning. He complained for weeks, expressed frustration about imposing sanctions on Russia. But his national security team knew better… and held Moscow accountable.
>>> "Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment…But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis. [O]ne way or another — it’s over."
Hey, did you write that New York Times anonymous op-ed?
First order of business should be to adjourn #Kavanaugh hearings. It’s unconscionable to ignore the dangerous, unfit & incompetent man occupying the White House any longer. Next Congress should haul Trump in & investigate. (A nervous Grassley just stumbled over Kavanaugh’s name!)
Theory: Anonymous op-ed author is someone who, like too many Republicans, thought supporting a dangerous idiot would turn out ok. And now, seeing how wrong they were, they want to seem heroic to retain some credibility and/or the ability to get a job when Trump disaster is over.
>> "I think the biggest issue they’re going to have is figuring out who WOULDN'T have written a letter like that"—GOP Senator Bob Corker on WH search for author of Trump op-ed tennessean.com/story/news/pol…
#Inners recap (OY): “All the President’s Mess”—Trump rages about anonymous op-ed as White House officials issue denials (as did Deep Throat); Rand Paul proposes lie detector tests for WH staff (Rand’s been hanging with Russians a LOT); Most Republicans in Congress: (Shrug) (😈)
