#Thread During #KeralaFloods many of the people lost their crucial documents. It was a big mess to recover these documents since they don't even remember the document no. Hence, Kerala IT department came up with an API architecture to retrieve the documents. (1/n)

The idea was generated jointly by IT secretary M.Sivasankar and KSUM CEO Saji Gopinath. The target was to retrieve the documents by taking the basic inpit values known to the public. It startes working last day (2/n)

Incase of Aadhaar, govt will take your biometrics as the input value to generate E-Aadhaar if one doesn't remember the ID number. This will be pushed into Digilocker account created. Also will get a print out for free of cost. (3/n)

Incase of other departments, they search for the keywords using the API. And cross verify the records at Department counters. Aaadhaar won't be a string for searching. (4/n)

For this architecture many govt departments have ensured the portability towards Digilocker. Also govt issued a GO appointing IT mission as the nodal office for API sharing between departments. (5/n)

At present we have almost 5 departments enrolled in this. We can retrieve Driving license,RC Book, CHIAK Health Card, SSLC book, Ration card etc. Soon land documents will also come under this hopefully. (6/n) #Manorama

Also govt has ordered that no fees will be collected for re-issuing the documents. IT Mission director Sambasiva Rao and IIITMK Associate professor Asharaf jointly implemented the technology. Started piloting at Paravoor (7/n)

If government could assure security and prevent chances of manipulation, this architecture will be an excellent model. Kudos to all people who worked to build such a facility in a short period (8/n)

Its high time to have such fire and waterproof document safe in our households! Anyone using it? (9/n)
