The sensitive issue of how we support children at risk of #radicalisation is a thorny one. Few would disagree we should protect them from abuse and harm.

When a teacher attempts to #radicalise over 100 children to become a 'child army' of #terrorists, we must have challenging conversations and identify long-term solutions theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/m…

If schoolgirls can be #radicalised by #Islamist extremists and enticed to a conflict zone like #Syria, we must ask ourselves how do we #prevent it happening again, what tools do we have to #safeguard the most vulnerable? standard.co.uk/news/world/fam…

When an adult immerses Primary School children in #terrorist propaganda and violent videos in an effort to #radicalise them, how must we respond? The threat is real and these are not isolated incidents amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/o…

The answer to the problem of child #radicalisation doesn't lie with #Islamist groups who barely acknowledge the problem exists. Those who encouraged travel to #Syria and undermined efforts to #prevent travel there. Nor with those who try to thwart our #safeguarding efforts.

The answer lies in the education of young people, resilience to #extremist narratives. It lies in training those who have a duty of care to our children how to identify these social harms and provide the right support educateagainsthate.com @EducateAgainst

Where we must rely on our legal system to #prevent harm to our children, guidance exists in Sir James Munby's paper on #Radicalisation Cases in the Family Courts.

"Only exceptional circumstances should invoke a family intervention by the courts"

From teachers to parents, social care to youth work and from Govt to Civil Society, we all have a collective duty to prevent the exploitation and #radicalisation of young people.
