TODAY: THE 9PM SIERRA OSCAR LIMA (OR LLAMA). @NewtonMark will be flying me from Sydney’s Bankstown Airport to Wagga Wagga to Swan Hill to Goolwa. Here’s the aircraft VH-SOL and the flight plan. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark I’m recording podcast bits en route, maybe streaming live. Aircraft comms and ambient sound into Zoom H6, which records. Audio from there into the iPad and @spreaker Studio for streaming. No promises on the latter bit though. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark We hope to start the engine at 0830 AEST. You can follow our progress via @flightradar24. Just punch in VH-SOL and watch the magic happen. flightradar24.com/-33.92,150.99/… #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Preparing the aircraft.

@NewtonMark @NewtonMark Preparing the aircraft. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Hey @dobes @rohan_p don’t tell anyone but its part of #teamchemtrail. Which is definitely an aerobatics team and not anything dodgy or deep-state. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark The cockpit, with pertinent safety warning. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark I am reliably informed that we are already at maximum take-off weight. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Dragging the aircraft outside. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark In position. Planned engine start was and we’re real close. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Taxiing. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Sitting and waiting our turn. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Climbing from 2500ft. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Executing a gentle turn over Mittagong at 4500ft. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark THIS IS AWESOME. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Changing squawk code to 0333. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Dunno why that’s still showing Cessnock. Mark did file a flight notification. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark It’s hard to see through the glare of the canopy but it’s very dry down there. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Sorry about the vibration blur, but there be windmills. We’re currently at 6500ft. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Passing over Lake Burrinjuck. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Touchdown Wagga Wagga. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark And here’s a picture. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Doing the needful. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Having refuelled the aircraft and humans, and drained the sumps, we’re taxiing for take-off from Wagga Wagga for the run to Swan Hill. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Here’s a picture. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark I was going to take a video but by the time I’d fiddled with my phone we were already airborne. 500ft above the ground before the end of the runway. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark More canola, from 4500ft. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Yep yep this is us. You too can follow along via @flightradar24. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark We’ve just descended from 4500ft to 4000ft to stay below these clouds. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Lake Urana has some water in it. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark And now back to 6500ft to get above these. I’m a bit slow posting the photos. @RealNickHodge #9pmsol

@NewtonMark @RealNickHodge That wiggle in the @flightradar24 trace is where Mark decided to take over from the computer and demonstrate how agile this aircraft is. He snapped it into a 70-degree bank without warning. Fuck you, Mark. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark 15 minutes to Swan Hill. We’re through the cold front and cruising under the cloud at 5000ft. Airspeed 140 knots. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Well, about 9 minutes now. I’m gossiping instead of posting photos. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Descent has been commenced. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Swan Hill, the town. In the circuit. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Touched down at Swan Hill, taxiing back up the runway. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark All the facilities at Swan Hill Airport. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark A closer look at the facilities at Swan Hill. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark My phone battery is running out, so in case I don’t get the chance heresy they plan for the third and final stage. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Lift-off. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark So two things. Flight plan has changed and we’re tracking direct from Swan Hill to Goolwa. And I won’t take many photos because I’m now on the iPad and I don’t want to be that guy. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark That said, this is Lake Tyrrell. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Changing course a little to the north to go through a gap in the oncoming drizzle. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Returning to our original course. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark We’re not showing on @flightradar24 because remote but this is where we were a few minutes ago. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark We’re back on the @flightradar24 coverage and approaching the South Australian border. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark It’s hard to see, but that dirt track seems to mark where we crossed into South Australia. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Cruising at 3000ft having bypassed all the weather. Just a few streaks of drizzle on the windshield. And squished bugs from earlier. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Flying around the rain. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark That is probably blurry as all fuck because it was a bit lumpy just then. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark 15 minutes to go. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark A blurry photo of Lake Alexandrina because this sky road has potholes right now. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark It’s not Sydney Harbour. #9pmsol

@NewtonMark Sorry yes we did land safely at Goolwa. Here is my final photo (for now) of the parked plane, and an airport dog. #9pmsol

If you missed today’s flight-related tweets they start way back here. #9pmsol

I think people liked the airport dog. He’s very friendly.

Hey @kcarruthers did you see the airport dog yesterday? Goolwa airport is privately owned by a bloke called Geoff and this is his dog Bomber.
