A quick reminder: the lying liars of Facebook know they've built the greatest intelligence machine in mankind. Who are their clients?
2/ mind the time gap: 70 million views in less than a year on one FB page alone. thedailybeast.com/russias-facebo…
3/ That may not include shares or copies of the imagery that like a firehose, modified the target audience perception.
Speaking of perception management, this thesis from 10 years ago. dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fullte…
and speaking of firehoses... rand.org/content/dam/ra… cc: @RANDCorporation
6/ and of course to show case this point we have this concept:
7/ which leaves the vector/host (you, the reader & consumer) impacted by the imagery. Do you delete or forward it?
8/ Something to consider; the following are snapshots of the images from a shuttered RIS troll site. Note the watermark.
it's important to not "reverse amplify" an image by forwarding or replying. Note the themes.
10/ Themes of xenophobia, a weird sense of nationalism + violence, inclusivity by race
11/ Themes of division and imagery that Balkanizes the American populace into factions and tribes.
12/All of these are negative themes. A "black pill" the silly #kek nerds would call it. (Btw, #kekistan, the right can't meme)
13/ Options in response: 1. Most won't want to feed the trolls. That's fine. It's easy and it stops the info chain
14/ 2. Share positive counter imagery. You would be surprised how humor undermines trolls. Don't get angry; short circuit the process.
15/ If it is a Russian Troll, see the pinned tweet #OpBot. It forces the Russian troll to see an uncomfortable image
16/ Just remember, knowing how this works undermines it's usefulness. Now go spread this knowledge to your ignorant friends on Facebook!
