Thread: Propaganda and you, part two.

/ The process I'm aiming to establish is for you, the viewer, is to identify themes of propaganda. Call it native COGSEC.

/ Your brain can be trained to recognize propaganda and overcome biases, if you train it to do so.

/ In an earlier thread I touched upon Edward Bernays and recognizing propaganda themes. That was merely a primer.

/ Linking definitions to examples is the next step. The following are extracts from this dated book: books.google.com/books?id=YMQjD…

/ Another example of propaganda slinging: CNN is fake news

/ Another example of Asymmetrical definition: the vague slogan of MAGA.

/ Another example of juxtaposition: Current anti immigration memes

/ Another example of a glittering generality: Medicare for all.

/ Another example of testimonial: "I'm X professional, and I endorse this thing/product/idea"

/ The term "positive transfer" is used in so many products/ideas. "Tea party", "conservatives", and "Reaganites", oh my.

Another example of "desirable by association": Using celebrities to be seen at a club or hotel. Having the last name of Hilton

/ An example of negative testimonial: memes of trump endorsing beauty pageants. Wait... that happened. #propoinception

/ Example: the hashtag #HillarysEmails

/ Example of Retroactive fear appeals: Using immigrant crimes to appeal to having a border wall built

/ Personal attacks: easy to use and effective. See election '16. Can be weaponized into memes.

/ Hate speech: next level on spectrum of negative propo from personal attacks. See Charlottesville for results.

/ Continuation: the spectrum of radicalization in Islam works nearly the same with Nazis. Horseshoe theory? Perhaps.

/ I see themes here that were weaponized by the Alt-right. MAGA3X created a monster they can't control now.

/ That's all for now. Next topic will focus on memetics and propaganda. Stay tuned.
