ABSENTEE BALLOT ELIGIBILITY

You may vote absentee in Alabama for several reasons. Check out the list below to see if you're eligible.

Also, if you miss the deadline for absentee ballot voting, and you have a sudden business trip, you are still able to absentee vote up to the day before the election in Alabama.

TWO STEPS TO ABSENTEE VOTING*

☑Step 1: apply for an absentee ballot
☑Step 2: complete the absentee ballot

*Both steps done at the same time in person. We'll describe in person and mail in absentee voting below.

IN PERSON ABSENTEE VOTING

Go to your county's absentee election manager. Addresses here: sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes/…

BY MAIL ABSENTEE VOTING

Step 1: Mail in absentee ballot application. Clerk must receive your application by Dec 7.

BY MAIL ABSENTEE VOTING

Step 2: The clerk sends you your ballot. Complete the ballot, follow directions for ID, envelopes, and witnesses (see pics). Mail it back.

The clerk must receive your ballot in the mail before noon on Dec 12.

You also have the option to text to get an absentee ballot. But the same deadlines apply.

By Dec 7: Clerk receives your absentee ballot application

By noon Dec 12: Clerk receives your mailed ballot
