This thread simply & clearly spells out Jesus Christ (as) in Islam. (“as” is an Abbreviation for an Arabic prayer that means “peace be upon him.”)

Muslims love Jesus—more than we even love our own parents! /1 #MuslimJesus

The Qur’an calls Jesus a “Prophet sent to the Children of Israel.” He is a sinless, pure, & truthful prophet of God (as are all prophets) & he brought the message of the Gospel. /2

(Welcome questions. tag @TrueIslamUSA as they’ll likely respond faster than I)

Let's start w/a few fun facts about Jesus in Islam.

The Qur’an:
•mentions Jesus by name 28 times
•acknowledges Jesus was born of the virgin Mary (3:48)
•states God breathed His spirit into Mary (21:92 & 66:13)
•says Jesus performed miracles by God’s command
/3

At this point my Christian friends are like, "Wait, that’s basically what the Gospels say about Jesus. What gives?"

Well, that’s b/c the Qur’an celebrates the Gospels & Torah as Divinely revealed books too, sent by the same God who revealed the Qur’an /4

While Muslims don’t believe the Gospels & Torah are in the same pristine form as when they were revealed, we still honor them as an article of faith.

This is also why you’ll never see Muslims burn the Torah or Gospels—rather Muslims revere these Divine books. /5

"Muhammad(sa) & Jesus(as) are two rays of light from the same sun."—Christian Negus of Abyssinia, ~620 AD

Likewise, let’s also discuss where Muslims & Christians differ on Jesus, b/c while there are many similarities, it is important to understand the differences too. /6

1. Muslims do not believe Jesus is God's physical son, but a son in the sense that he walked God’s path perfectly. Bible uses “son of God” often
e.g.
•David is God’s begotten son (Psalm 2:7)
•Israel is God’s first-born (Exodus 4:22-23)
•Angels are God’s children (Gen 6:2)
/7

2. Muslims believe each person is accountable for their own acts and no person can account for the sins of another. Thus, Muslims do not believe Jesus atoned for the sins of Humanity. Instead, God is Gracious & Merciful & forgives those who seek His forgiveness. /8

3. Muslims believe that once someone dies, they cannot return. Death from this life is permanent and no person can come back from the dead. So, no physical Resurrection of Jesus in Islam.

So what happened at the crucifixion? Great question. /9

My Jesus in Islam thread got interrupted somehow after tweet 9 so linking the rest of the thread here
