First, the background info: The #ComeyMemos are handwritten notes by Comey, detailing 7 conversations w/ Trump between 1/7/17 and 4/11/17.

Things did not go as planned for Republicans.

Republicans were hoping the #ComeyMemos would reveal Comey as a liar or a hypocrite; at the very least, they were hoping to seize upon some nuanced discrepancy to undermine him.
Instead, the memos backed up what Comey has said for months. They boosted his credibility.

Trump told Comey that he didn't spend the night in Moscow when he was there in 2013 for Miss Universe.
But in November, Trump's longtime bodyguard Keith Schiller testified that they did spend the night at the hotel in Moscow (nbcnews.com/news/us-news/t…).

Trump told Comey at least twice that he wanted to jail journalists to "find out what they know" and get them to reveal anonymous sources.
He wanted Comey to talk to Sessions about how they could go after reporters more aggressively.

In this incident, Trump got mad about the timing of a return call to [redacted]. The call was scheduled for Saturday (6 days away), which Trump thought was too long to return a call from a country like [redacted].
So... over-under on redacted = Russia?
