A gentle reminder.

I'm #actuallyautistic and like many of us, using a telephone is not something that's top of our list when it comes to communicating.

For me, auditory processing disorder makes it difficult to hear and parse the content. And there's a component of sensory

Processing difficulty for me when it comes to talking on the phone as well.

But like many #actuallyautistic I have several co-occurring conditions.

2 of them, #dyslexia and #dyspraxia make things quite a struggle for me.

One of the biggest ways they effect me is

Communication.

Communication for me as an #actuallyautistic #Dyslexic is like a living jenga puzzle. At any second a learning or physical #disability is moving those pieces on me and one wrong move and it all comes down.

Thank goodness I live in a time with so many various

Communication tools.

That means there are several ways to communicate now that isn't limited to the telephone 📞

Here's my gentle reminder -

A telephone is a communication tool. And as an #actuallyautistic #Dyslexic #dyspraxic #disabled person I need the telephone to

Be able to communicate. I need it to make medical appointments. To get directions. To help me balance my jenga puzzle.

I can't just simply write an email or send a dm or a text. There's nothing simple about any of those things for me.

I think #actuallyautistic need as many

Communications tools in the box that we can get. Just because the telephone is normalized doesn't mean #actuallyautistic like myself don't need it.
