Those who don't know Trump and his methods, especially his means of conveying vital messages, are doomed to foolishly misinterpret those messages. Again and again, the legacy media, liberals, #NeverTrumpers, etc., completely misconstrue what is really being conveyed.
The quick and easy and abysmally lazy explanation for today's Trump tweet re Sessions: Trump, attacking his AG again! Trying to undermine our precious Mueller probe!
The media take the bait. Every time. Trump's deadly skills at branding, honed to a science, are the stuff of legend. Once he affixes a nick name on you, it sticks. Permanently.
But notice something. No nick name for Sessions. Several things to keep in mind. Trump could fire Sessions. He hasn't. He could even quietly ask him to resign. He hasn't. And he won't.
If Sessions were actually in trouble with Trump, he would be fired in a New York minute. Knowing what we know about Trump. So long as he's AG, the safest assumption is that Sessions is on Team Trump.
Trump clearly wants the media to brand his tweet as impulsive. It's always worked. But Trump is the opposite of impulsive. He's strategic. He games his every move. And that of his enemies. He knows that for every Trump action, there will be an overreaction.
He sees around corners. He doesn't just understand all the dominoes, he knows which one needs to fall first to set in motion the proper chain of events. He knows his enemies are clueless. He counts it. It's why he breezily outmaneuvers them. Every time.
He knew all about the FISA abuses and rampant criminality at Obama's weaponized DOJ/FBI long before the HPSCI. Before the OIG. He tweeted in October that the Clinton campaign and DNC had colluded with the Russians on the dirty Dos.
The media, Democrats and Republicans mercilessly ridiculed him for it. Weeks later, he was vindicated. The same cast of characters ridiculed his tweet about being wired-tapped by Obama. Remember that one?
They called the accusation impulsive, delusional. Nutty conspiracy stuff. He was vindicated months later. His enemies are still wiping egg off their collective face after that one.
Sessions getting ripped a new one on Twitter by POTUS is all for show. It's not to distract the media by creating the impression that he's having a noisy clash with his AG.
No, he's branding. Before the media gets a chance to. It's how he rolls. The OIG will be dropping the biggest bombshell to eclipse Watergate. Soon. Trump knows this.
He also knows what the unison media reaction will be. It will run interference, for the Democrats. That's what would happen if the usual course of events were allowed to unfold, unmolested. Trump is not about to let that happen.
By seeming to publicly berate his AG, Trump inserts a devastatingly clever plot twist. He disrupts the planned media narrative. Something about seeing around corners.
He knows his every tweet will be read as inflexible text. Always impulsive. Zero nuance. He uses that triggered media knee jerk reaction as a cudgel.
This morning's tweet reinforces the goal of insulating Sessions from media attacks when the OIG MOABs are dropped and subsequent indictments inevitably are handed down.
If Sessions leads the charge against Obama's DOJ/FBI cronies and the Clintons, he would easily be branded as Trump's attack dog. "There go the Republicans again! Going after the Clintons! After the Obamas!" would be the hue and cry.
Not gonna happen. The planned
media defensive strategy is defeated before it launches.
Regarding seeing around corners. Trump games out events. He studies his enemy's weaknesses and strengths. He learns from them. He can foresee trouble. It's how he not only survived the primaries against 16 formidable rivals, he thrived, happy warrior style.
The knack for seeing around corners (and potential trouble ahead) is what led him to fire James Comey. Inside sources (principally Navy Admiral Mike Rogers of NSA) were keeping Trump abreast of nefarious efforts to undermine his presidency from within.
Trump knew all along he was under Obama-ordered surveillance. He's known this since 11-17-16. Adm. Rogers tipped him off. The following day, Trump moved his entire transition team from Trump Tower to Bedminster, NJ.
Trump Tower. Hmmmm. Remember the much-derided Trump tweet about Obama and wire-tapping and Trump Tower? This is what Trump was referring to. That tweet was in March, 2017. Trump fired Comey two months later.
Repeatedly, Trump is falsely accused of being impulsive. Yet he waited 6 months (from 11-17-16 to 5-9-17) to show Comey the door. Trump well knows that timing is everything, in politics as in real estate.
Any chance Trump didn't record his White House convos with Comey? Not a chance. An oblique reference to "tapes" is how Trump got Comey to admit he wasn't the target of the Russia investigation.
Comey was gathering intel on Trump. But Trump was collecting intel on Comey. Comey lost his job. Trump didn't. Comey, checkmated.
"Workers of (Fusion GPS) firm involved with the discredited and Fake Dossier take the 5th. Who paid for it, Russia, the FBI or the Dems (or all)?" That's Trump tweeting last October, 19.
The media went bananas. "[Trump] is suggesting that a dossier prepared by a former member of British intelligence ... might have been funded by some combination of Russia, the Democratic Party and, wait for it, the FBI!", sneared CNN's Chris Cillizza.
"There is no plausible scenario by which what Trump suggested - a wide-ranging conspiracy involving three separate actors across federal agencies and continents - actually happened," a hysterical Cillizza added. The no plausible scenario is what exactly happened.
Trump, as noted earlier, was soon vindicated when Fusion GPS was forced to cough up its bank records to the HPSCI. Cillizza - and the rest of the legacy media - had egg on their collective face.
Any chance Trump's tweet was just a shot in the dark? Not a chance. He knew.
Let's take the special counsel, Robert Mueller. Trump knew what was up. He knew from the jump that Mueller's criminal probe was not a criminal probe but a counterintelligence op. Just as Comey's was.
It's why Mueller can't build an obstruction case from the Comey firing, as NRO's Andrew C. McCarthy pointed out in a magnificent article earlier this year. Can't obstruct a criminal probe that isn't a criminal probe.
Mueller's mission is to protect the coup plotters - with some court action tossed into the mix to give it the sheen of a criminal probe; to keep the coup plotters abreast of developments; to sequester damaging evidence; to checkmate the OIG probe.
The mission failed. Spectacularly. Peter Strzok was always the weak link. The OIG outed him. Mueller now presides over a train wreck.
Any chance Trump didn't know things would end so badly for Mueller? Any chance Trump didn't know Rod Rosenstein renewed FISA authority to spy on Trump months into his presidency? Not a chance.
Mueller is a Republican. Rosenstein is a Republican. Trump knows the Democrats are the opposition party, but the Republicans are the enemy. That's why he's not fired either one. Keep your friends close, your enemies closer.
Nor has Trump attached a Twitter nick name to either of these two bumbling buffoons. He knew they would self-destruct. When your enemy is busy self-immolating, don't interfere.
He knew the OIG probe would ultimately vindicate him. It already has. The coming OIG reports, from all indications, will be damning. Rosenstein will be gone. Mueller will be a footnote. Indictments for the rampant FISA abuses, political surveillance and cover ups are inevitable.
Take the case of the #CrookedHillary campaign. Paying a foreign spy and Putin's Kremlin to cook up fake allegations is a federal crime. Laundering the payments through a law firm to avoid reporting it as campaign expenditures is a federal crime.
Dressing up this pile of political pornography as official intel to secure a Title 1 FISA court warrant (essentially declaring Carter Page an enemy spy) and repeatedly going before the FISC for renewals, knowingly using the long-ago discredited dossier, are federal crimes.
Trump is blessed by the enemies he keeps. Their slings and arrows never weaken him. They make him stronger. His DNA code is written in the language of #Winning.
The opposition party and his enemies - the GOP-e - have spent the last three years of Trump's political life learning lessons. Only to un-learn them. Again and again.
@realDonaldTrump From its very beginning, the TrumpRussia narrative was an elaborate fabrication. The BIG LIE. A hoax. Everyone knew it was a hoax. Including - and especially - its chief purveyors.
@realDonaldTrump Obama's fearsome array of weaponized Law enforcement and intelligence agencies knew it was a Hoax. They played a prominent role in its fabrication. They partnered with the Clinton campaign to promote The Hoax. To sell it.
@realDonaldTrump Now the entire Democrat Party is fully invested in The Hoax. The legacy media have sunk a fortune - including what remained of their credibility - banking on The Hoax.
@realDonaldTrump Democrats thought they were on a roll. That they had Trump on the ropes. Family separations! Yes! Yes! That's our ticket! The more, the merrier. We've got that wily Trump now!
@realDonaldTrump Or so they thought. Trump then pulls the rug out from under them. Via EO. Stroke of a pen. Still they bitched & moaned. Threw people out of restaurants. Hounded & spat on Trump supporters. Blocked intersections (always a real winner).
@realDonaldTrump Yelled at Florida AG Pam Bondi at a Tampa movie theater. Targeted White House adviser Stephen Miller's home for being a White House adviser. Hounded Elaine Chao. Chased the DHS Secretary out of a Mexican restaurant. Threw more temper tantrums.
@realDonaldTrump What is Robert Mueller looking for exactly? Well, it's complicated. Let's start with what he's NOT looking for. Much shorter list. In fact, there's only one item on that "list".
@realDonaldTrump And it's this: the TRUTH. Mueller is the "insurance policy". Cooked up by Obama DOJ-FBI political appointees just in case Trump won.
@realDonaldTrump Their first job was to "exonerate" Trump's 2016 opponent, Hillary, Obama's designated would-be successor. Exonerating Hillary required bending the law beyond the breaking point. So they bent the law, then smashed it to pieces.
