In commemoration of 3 years of emailing hundreds of papers/ resources to my @OHSUIMRes ward teams & thanks to the amazing educators here and on #medtwitter #meded

My 10 greatest hits based on learner feedback:
10/ AGC “Approach to abnormal LFT” guidelines - for all those times when it’s not acute liver failure, but those LFT’s look like they need some investigating - ht Dr Jou gi.org/guideline/eval…
9/ “Normotensive ischemic acute renal failure” - can’t tell you how many times this has come in handy where I’ve slipped this to my resident, antihypertensives were backed down and a mysterious AKI disappeared; ht Dr Chiovaro nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
8/ @OHSUIMRes Dr Papak’s “Pre-rounding checklist” - the best resources are those that have been distilled down & immediately applicable; this is a favorite efficiency resource
7/ Absolutely any video by @DrEricStrong is a gem - favorites have been the crosscover calls, identifying MI’s, and electrolyte abnormalities series youtube.com/channel/UCFq5v…
6/ “Education strategies to promote clinical diagnostic reasoning” by @OHSUSOM Dr Judith Bowen - clearly not only for educators, one of those things I wish I knew as a student so I could’ve been building illness scripts this entire time nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
5/ #EBM 101: how to interpret a RCT” - if you are on my team and want to bring up a RCT, be prepared to summarize your key take homes for us - ht Drs Allen, Obley and @vinayprasadmd for their time thoughtfully discussing the #FOURIER trial as an example
4/ “Likelihood ratios simplified” - this classic Steven McGee intro to bayesian thinking 101 paper - another hit ht Dr Chiovaro ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
3/ “Diagnostic errors and diagnostic calibration” by @adamcifu - my teams including myself haven’t always been spot on day one, so this my favorite thought piece to use as a tool to debrief our challenging clinical cases jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…
2/ “Snakes on a dock” by @ADetsky - an aspirational piece - a little bit of targeted curiosity can go a long way jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…
1/ “A little bit of slope makes up for a lot of y-intercept” - IM is overwhelming! I remember feeling a bit paralyzed my 1st day as a MS3 after a research year - but, like everything to be learned, it can be broken down into small daily achievable goals gist.github.com/gtallen1187/e8…
