Just read Philip Efiong's small work, Integration: True or False.
Efiong was a General in the #Biafra army & was second to Ojukwu in Biafra's leadership hierarchy.
I found certain information in the work revealing, like Gowon's reply to Efiong's memo to him.
[Thread]
After Biafra’s ‘surrender’, Efiong requested that undamaged airports in #Biafra be used for daylight & night flights for bringing in food & other supplies into Biafra.
He made d request to Gowon bc the humanitarian condition during d tail end of the war & after was catastrophic.
Immediately after the #Biafra - #Nigeria civil war, people were dyeing of hunger and the was a general lack of medical supplies.
But Gowon says no to Efiong's request that undamaged airports in Biafra be used for relief flights. A way of saying ‘If you are dyeing die'.
Gowon said that ‘for political reasons & internationalisation of relief situation’, relief flights to undamaged airports in Biafra would not be allowed.
This surprises me & should shock d conscience of any human person - especially one who like Gowon professes d Christian faith.
That Gowon would allow citizens of 'defunct' #Biafra to die AFTER THE WAR by refusing to allow relief flights through undamaged airports because of - to use his language - 'political reason' forces me to ask whether he has any moral authority to preach 'national' reconciliation?
Philip Efiong says dt after d war, Nigeria soldiers were roaming d streets & by-ways of #Biafra 'commandeering & carting away young girls & ladies as well as ...cars of those returning home from their place of refuge or endeavouring to report at their place of work as broadcast'
Bc of d above atrocities committed by Nigerian soldiers in #Biafra after d war, Effiong recommended to Gowon that soldiers be withdrawn to their barracks & be replaced by d police. Gowon refused bc of what he describes as 'feelings due to what has happened during d past 3 years'.
It baffles me dt Gowon because of 'feelings due to what has happened during d past 3 years [referring to the period of the war]' allowed d military to go ahead with their serious crimes against humanity directed at 'defeated' but innocent #Biafra civilians. Where is conscience?
Efiong reminded Gowon dt d people of #Biafra suffered many losses like d dispossession of their movable & immovable property due to d war & d 1966 crisis & were severely hit by d currency switch in Nigeria bw 1967-68; their only asset after d war was in d form of Biafran currency
Gowon replied Efiong that there was no way d Biafra pounds could be exchanged for what Gowon called 'a so called Biafran currency'.
Gowon thus cared little about d penury of d returning 'Biafrans'. What dy are today is purely from God & their effort. Gowon's govt never cared.

This new appointment appears to lend credence to the belief that certain ethnic 'blood' is required for certain security positions in this era of 97% v 5%.
Those who deserve arrest are #PMB who has some explanations to make about the whereabout of Nnamdi Kanu, the police that #PMB uses & #Okorocha on whose silence the women are being incarcerated.
Nobody has seen Nnamdi Kanu.
According to art. 7 (1) of the Rome Statute of d International Criminal Court, enforced disappearance of persons can constitute 'crimes against humanity'.
Between #PMB, #Okorocha, the police & the arrested #Owerri women, who then deserves arrest?
3 elements of enforced disappearance according to the UN:
(a) Deprivation of liberty against the will of the person concerned
(b) Involvement of government officials, at least indirectly by acquiescence;
(c)Refusal to disclose the fate & whereabouts of the person concerned”.
Insincerity, deceit, lies & impunity characterise governance in the .@OfficialAPCNg-led govt. of Oyo State.
How do you describe an Oyo govt that claimed that the demolition of Fresh FM followed due process only for the same govt to express shock at reading about the demolition?
To the argument that demolishing Fresh FM was wrong bc it is an employer of labour, Gov Ajimobi of Oyo says, according to @PremiumTimesng, 'are armed robbers not employers of labour too? Should we now say bc [they] employ people, they should continue to rob ...?”
Incorrigible?
So, Gov Ajimobi of Oyo has acknowledged that the state govt. demolished Fresh FM because of the state's 'commitment' to due process. I hope this is the government's last word on this & that it would not turn around & express shock at the demolition the way it did some days ago.
1. A pilot from Air Peace in a flight from Abuja to Enugu announced that the potholes and cracks in the runway of the airport could cause accident.
2. The same pilot from Air Peace invited passengers on board with some influence to get the authorities to forstall accident at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, by resurfacing the run way.
3. The airport lacks approach light at the runway's two ends; thus the airport operates only between 7am to 7pm & there is a nearby market which attracts birds - which is a threat to the engine of an aircraft
Nobody doubts that poverty can be found in every part of Nigeria, but the truth is that it is SERIOUSLY PERVASIVE in a region of the country, the north.
Check this article 'Poverty in Northern Nigeria' from Asian Journal of Humanities & Social Studies, according to the article:
1.'Each time poverty is mentioned in Nigeria, everybody’s mind readily moves to the Northern part of the country where there is high level of illiteracy and child destitution.' 2. The northern states account for the large population of
the citizens living in poverty in Nigeria.
3.'On a geo-political assessment, the North West has 77.7% of its population living in relative poverty while the North East came second with 76.3% of its population living in relative poverty. The North Central States has 67.5% of its population living in relative poverty'
