My handle on Twitter is Slightly Funny & I usually am. But this latest trump/sessions policy should make all Americans feel ashamed, saddened & intensely angry. If there are those among us who wondered how the holocaust was ALLOWED to happen, you have only to look at these photos

2) The act of child incarceration is abhorrent enough and the use of Christianity or any religion for it's justification should be the red line in the sand that causes every American to be propelled into action. It has been popularized to say and think, "This is not who we are."

3) But if those children are lying on the floor, it most certainly IS who we are and that is something that we now have to face. We have ALLOWED this to happen, as the German people allowed Kristallnacht. It is ironic that it is now the Germans who try to warn us & plead with us.

4) Americans are a funny bunch though & it takes a great deal for us to be moved to action. Pres. Obama never had as many social media followers as Kim Kardashian & a large portion of ppl are still clueless about the Mueller investigation. So, is it hopeless? Is Democracy dying?

5) I don't know. I'll leave that up to the scholars & historians to figure out. Here's what I do know. I know that actions by the people are urgently needed NOW! As more time passes, we become complicit & ineffectual.

6) It's so hard for folks to look outside of themselves & view a crisis of this magnitude in its entirety. You'd need 1 hell of a ladder or 1 hell of an imagination to see it all. You also need something that many ppl lack & that is a frame of reference or context.

7) Not one of my HS students had ever read a newspaper & neither had their parents. History, whether ancient or recent, has much to tell us if only we could listen. But we, Americans, already know everything. We don't have to read. We don't have to be briefed on meetings.

8) We don't need to heed the advice of other countries or listen to those lousy foreigners. We can just watch raccoons climb buildings, listen to music, eat, drink & TV ourselves into a stupor of complacency.

9) But oh, those photos. Those horrible photos that we can still see even after we shut our eyes. A moment of conscience and consciousness converge and we are frozen. We realize the nightmares are real and we can't wake up.

10) Those babies are still on the floor, millions are set to lose health care due to pre-existing conditions, and POC & others are being brutalized every single day by a savagery unleashed from centuries of pent-up hatred. We aren't better than this. We ARE THIS now.

11) I, for one, am humbled by the magnitude of our condition. So, I can only think to do the things that I have turn to in my past days of activism. I will gather with like minded ppl. I will organize locally. I will write, call, march, e mail and make signs.

12) I will use my political art to speak. I will encourage politicians to act and speak out. And I will never give up. I will never give up. I will never stop. I will never give up. I will never stop. Please RT. Thank you #TheResistance #Resist #Resistance #Resisters
