.@IfaladeO

It is true that I am not the spokesperson of UN's Human Rights Council, but I AM A SUPPORTER of any group that advances human rights in any way. This is because of my strong belief in the dignity of the human person.

THREAD
Also, my CATHOLIC and CHRISTIAN belief that the human person is made in the image and the likeness of God (according to the Book of Genesis) convinces me that respecting Human Rights is a matter of conscience and an exercise in faith. .../2
#HumanRights #HumanRightsCouncil
The utility of d human right council does not lie in just answering convincingly @IfaladeO's 'Can you please highlight any case of human rights violation that d council has taken up in Nigeria before and the outcome of their advocacy.' ..3

#HumanRights #HumanRightsCouncil
The utility of the #HumanRightsCouncil lies in the fact that it is an international human rights body and strengthening it instead of destroying it advances the protection of the common person's God-given rights. /4
It is a plus and not a minus that the #HumanRightsCouncil and not any agency of the Nigerian state brought to d attention of d international community & indeed prepared a report on d right of every Nigerian to enjoy d highest attainable standard of physical and mental health. /5
Also, d #HumanRightsCouncil brought d world's attention & prepared reports on d minority issue in Nigeria & d human rights of d internally displaced in Nigeria & torture in Nigeria.

There is no way such an advancement in human right knowledge can be viewed as negative. /6
Dictators do not fancy human rights legal regime because it disallows them from encroaching into God-given dignity/rights of individuals and also curbs their propensity to impunity. Dictators hate and (most often) fail to implement court decisions that favour human rights. /7
I support UN's #HumanRightsCouncil; I support that countries identify with it; and I recommend that the council be reformed and be empowered more by states to act more effectively in favour of human rights./8
I will advice all to read the functions of the #HumanRightsCouncil as listed in UN's resolution 60/251 of 2006 to appreciate the body's noble mission. Countries should strengthen and not destroy the body.

Below is a link to the resolution: [THREAD ENDS]

The era of Seiyefa, appointed by Osibanjo as Acting DG of DSS in August, ends.

#PMB rather prefers Yusuf Magaji Bichi.

This new appointment appears to lend credence to the belief that certain ethnic 'blood' is required for certain security positions in this era of 97% v 5%.

What did the Owerri women do?

They asked about the whereabout of Nnamdi Kanu!

Those who deserve arrest are #PMB who has some explanations to make about the whereabout of Nnamdi Kanu, the police that #PMB uses & #Okorocha on whose silence the women are being incarcerated.
Nobody has seen Nnamdi Kanu.

According to art. 7 (1) of the Rome Statute of d International Criminal Court, enforced disappearance of persons can constitute 'crimes against humanity'.

Between #PMB, #Okorocha, the police & the arrested #Owerri women, who then deserves arrest?
3 elements of enforced disappearance according to the UN:
(a) Deprivation of liberty against the will of the person concerned
(b) Involvement of government officials, at least indirectly by acquiescence;
(c)Refusal to disclose the fate & whereabouts of the person concerned”.

Insincerity, deceit, lies & impunity characterise governance in the .@OfficialAPCNg-led govt. of Oyo State.

How do you describe an Oyo govt that claimed that the demolition of Fresh FM followed due process only for the same govt to express shock at reading about the demolition?
To the argument that demolishing Fresh FM was wrong bc it is an employer of labour, Gov Ajimobi of Oyo says, according to @PremiumTimesng, 'are armed robbers not employers of labour too? Should we now say bc [they] employ people, they should continue to rob ...?”

Incorrigible?
So, Gov Ajimobi of Oyo has acknowledged that the state govt. demolished Fresh FM because of the state's 'commitment' to due process. I hope this is the government's last word on this & that it would not turn around & express shock at the demolition the way it did some days ago.

The death trap called 'Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu'.

@vanguardngrnews shows that:

1. A pilot from Air Peace in a flight from Abuja to Enugu announced that the potholes and cracks in the runway of the airport could cause accident.
2. The same pilot from Air Peace invited passengers on board with some influence to get the authorities to forstall accident at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, by resurfacing the run way.
3. The airport lacks approach light at the runway's two ends; thus the airport operates only between 7am to 7pm & there is a nearby market which attracts birds - which is a threat to the engine of an aircraft

Nobody doubts that poverty can be found in every part of Nigeria, but the truth is that it is SERIOUSLY PERVASIVE in a region of the country, the north.

Check this article 'Poverty in Northern Nigeria' from Asian Journal of Humanities & Social Studies, according to the article:
1.'Each time poverty is mentioned in Nigeria, everybody’s mind readily moves to the Northern part of the country where there is high level of illiteracy and child destitution.'
2. The northern states account for the large population of
the citizens living in poverty in Nigeria.
3.'On a geo-political assessment, the North West has 77.7% of its population living in relative poverty while the North East came second with 76.3% of its population living in relative poverty. The North Central States has 67.5% of its population living in relative poverty'
