Not a moment too soon #TGIF

Guy next to me at this bar is complaining to his buddy how much his law firm charges to draft NDAs to keep his crypto-currency idea secret. He’s also describing his idea so loudly that the entire bar can hear him.

He estimates that his idea is worth $50 million by the end of the year. Seems legit.

He says he want to make appearances on NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNBC, and Fox to promote his idea. This guy is the Michael Avenatti of crypto-currency.

Oh, here it is. The ask: “I’m accepting early investors so we can get acceleration money to get the blockchain off the ground. I usually charge investors 100k, but since I know you, I can get you in for only 50.”

Before his buddy can answer, crypto guy picks up his phone: “Excuse me, that’s my girl .... Hi baby, how bad was the damage?” (laughs) “Glad you had fun” (hangs up).

To his buddy: “She just spent 5 grand at Neiman’s.” [bc this guy is obv VERY successful] “Sorry, where were we?”

Buddy looks like he’s actually considering it (to be clear, idk if they’re actually buddies, but they seem to know each other). I’m desperately trying to figure out how I can give buddy my card.

Crypto guy says he’s gotta run and asks for the check. Says he needs to catch his private plane to Vegas (I almost laughed out loud).

Told his buddy to “think about it,” but emphasizes that he expects this “funding round” to close soon. Doesn’t want his buddy to “miss out.”

Check comes. Crypto guy immediately pulls out a money clip with several $100 bills. Buddy sees this and insists that he will get the bill. Crypto guy does not object.

Off they go .... And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I will always have litigation work in this town. /Fin

Lol this article from @fintechfrank confirms it - there’s gonna be so much crypto litigation the next few years. I’m already picking out my new car.
