First, as always, @iwoc_oakland has put together a good pamphlet with background on the strike, including the original press release from @JailLawSpeak. You'll notice the first thing listed under Take Action is "Call during phone zaps!"
A phone zap is an action in which multiple people call a target (in this case, usually wardens and Departments of Corrections) in support of a cause or formation. This is an excellent tool for anti-repression. Because prison administrations are used to operating in the dark.
Five minutes you spend on the phone can mean a comrade inside spends five minutes fewer in solitary confinement. THIS TACTIC WORKS!
Phone zaps are easy to do even if you're not connected to an org. Phone zaps will usually be announced ahead of time. Follow abolitionist orgs for announcements, and report back when you've made calls.
*Even better:* if you have a group of friends who are down, form a cluster or affinity group and commit to all making calls. 1 person can be a point of contact in a phone tree, which makes it easier for organizers to spread the word and get *commitments* to make calls.
IWOC will have a phone tree for the strike. Check with local orgs.
A phone zap has been called by folks in Chicago (I think @ChicagoABC) to support the #Vaughn17 on July 2nd. Get on it.
