Many things might spring to mind when someone says the word assessment, so this thread aims to clarify that our Assessment Lead Programme is nothing to do with data drops or tracking systems but everything to do with using the craft of assessment to support teaching & learning
When we talk about assessment, we’re referring to a planned, purposeful process that produces valuable information that leads to better decisions about #teaching & #learning
By supporting you to make your assessment practice & approach more effective & efficient, you can do more with less for a more manageable & meaningful use of #assessment
The Assessment Lead Programme (ALP) is made up of four modules: Understanding Assessment, Designing Assessment, Analysing Assessment & Leading Assessment. It is around 50 hours of #CPD over 3 terms
From deepened understanding of the value assessment holds for learning, to clarity around concepts such as validity & reliability, the first module gives a thorough grounding in assessment theory, but it’s not purely theoretical, you’ll be active from the start
Module 2 helps you to design better assessments. By learning the ins & outs of effective question & assessment design, you’ll be able to create robust home-grown assessments & you’ll have the knowledge to ask the key questions of assessment providers
Module 3 gives you both the knowledge & skill to use ALP’s powerful analytic tools. Having designed assessments, you’ll now trial them with your own students & use the analytic tools to determine their quality at both the level of the whole test & the individual questions in it
Module 4 enables scalable change in school & includes the Evidence-based School Assessment System to help determine who in school needs to do what; from using great formative questions in class to the working of an assessment #policy
The Assessment Lead Programme is about pedagogy and building stronger links between #curriculum & assessment, reclaiming assessment as a tool for teaching & learning
