Carol Levine of @CourtsMatterIL says group is coalition of orgs to ensure a fed judiciary of judges who'll uphold core constitutional values, incl voting rights, right to privacy, and more. Such judges have NOT been nominated to lower courts. So what will happen w/ SCOTUS?

Caroline Ostro from National Council of Jewish Women @ncjw reminds us Kennedy has been important swing vote. His replacement will sit on bench for decades. The candidates on Trumps's list are all far right. Likely narrowed to 4 of the candidates #SaveSCOTUS

Megan O'Malley @CourtsMatterIL + Brigid Leahy of @PPIAction speak. They don't expect any Trump nominee to be acceptable; he promised to appt judges who oppose Roe. Ultimately, Court could overturn or undermine Roe & prevent Americans in many states from safe, legal abortion.

O'Malley and Leahy say @IndivisibleIL and other groups are putting together a rapid response action in downtown Chicago for July 9 to #SaveSCOTUS. Find event on Indivisible IL FB page. There will also be phonebanking actions.

Illinoisans, get on mailing list for @PPIAction to find ways to help #SaveSCOTUS.

Not only marriage equality + women's health, but also employee rights, LGBTQ rights, disability rights, civil rights, climate protection + more will be threatened by the Supreme Court that Trump wants to shape. ~@CourtsMatterIL . #SaveSCOTUS

What can organizations do to #SaveSCOTUS? @CourtsMatterIL provides a list:

1. Call your senators. Even if your sens are great, keep telling them to act to #SaveSCOTUS. No floor vote til after election! Don't support ANYONE on Trump's list. Tell sens to speak out OFTEN on Senate floor. Tell them talk to their GOP colleagues as well as wavering Dems.

2. Use social media to inform your followers about movement to #SaveSCOTUS.
3. Talk with friends about ways to #SaveSCOTUS, esp folks in red districts.
4. VOTE!!
5. Illinoisans can join @CourtsMatterIL to get more resources + join effort to #SaveSCOTUS

6. Follow orgs like @IndivisibleIL and @GatherActivism for resources, actions you can take to #SaveSCOTUS
