Hey .@SenateMajLdr McConnell: we know it can be hard to think of what the federal government can do to stop school shootings when you’ve taken $1.6 million in .@NRA money, so we made a simple thread. #NoRA

We know you like to say mental health is the problem. (It’s not the whole problem, but ok). Maybe stop gutting Medicaid and community health centers. Mental healthcare for the poor is a critical tool to stop many kinds of violence. #NoRA

Mandate trigger locks and safe storage. Properly stored and secured guns could have prevented any number of shootings, including Sandy Hook. #NoRA

Raise the age to legally purchase long guns to 21, and require waiting periods and background checks on ALL gun purchases or transfers. #NoRA

Require active confiscation and storage of weapons of those arrested for violent crimes until a judge rules otherwise. #NoRA

Add those convicted of misdemeanor animal cruelty to the federal list of prohibits possessors. #NoRA

Mandate live-fire training and firearm liability insurance before sale or transfer of firearms. #NoRA

Treat firearms like cars: require registration, inspection, training, and licensing for ALL firearm purchases. #NoRA

Nationalize red flag laws, like the #ERPO Republican Charlie Baker signed into law today, allowing those closest to people likely to hurt themselves or others to ask a judge to order temporary confiscation of their firearms. #NoRA

Ban bump stocks and limit magazine capacity. Amend federal law to prevent manufacturers who try to circumvent it from being able to.

And that’s just the easy stuff. Maybe turn off the .@NRATV, @SenateMajLdr. And the NRA money. And do your damn job. #NoRA
