I get joking about #SecondCivilWar and all, but it’s really important to remember that Alex Jones is preparing his listeners and viewers to feel comfortable perpetrating violence against their fellow citizens for political disagreement...when the GOP runs the country.
Democrats aren’t even in power now! They are, structurally, weaker than they’ve been in a long time, maybe ever. And Alex Jones, who convinced a man to shoot up a pizza parlor to save children from sex trafficking in its nonexistent basement, is saying we’re gonna start a war.
It is very funny and I have laughed and I get it. But it’s important to understand that Jones and his ilk aren’t joking. They’ve been dehumanizing us for years. He is trying to invoke or inspire violence.
The conspiracy theories sound stupid because we haven’t been primed for them. But his audience believes what he says is true. This happened with Jade Helm and Pizzagate and Hillary’s brain tumor and and and...
So: laugh, but keep a sharp eye out. We might be joking about a #SecondCivilWar, but Jones is certainly not. And the Commander in Chief is one of his biggest supporters and listeners.
