🏴 With the front page of today's @ScotNational in mind, by sheer coincidence, I bought a book last week called 'Addresses Against Incorporating Union 1706-1707'.
Apparently, Glasgow was divided on the Union and it 'stimulated unusual levels of protest'. It also states that 'strong anti-union sentiment' was found amongst Glasgow artisans.
The artisans demonstrated literacy and political engagement by attaching papers reading 'No incorporating union' to their hats.

👨 👱♀️ This also means that around 3% of the electorate in Scotland are members of @theSNP. A politically engaged society is good for society as a whole.
🔍 Based on UK electorate (2017), if a UK-wide party had same proportion of electorate as @theSNP, it would have around 1,384,440 members. This is 2.5 times the size of the UK Labour Party.
🙍♂️🙍♀️ The latest Social Attitudes Survey found that 41% of people view independence as a positive for Scotland’s economy, up from 26% in 2014 – and now outnumbering those who believe otherwise.
🇮🇪 The Delta poll also shows that 56% of voters in Northern Ireland would back a United Ireland.
