Let's go back in time. In 2011, During the 37th annual general meeting Ambani had announced the plan to set up a world class multi disciplinary university in Maharashtra. They have started acquiring land at Karjat in Raigad in 2011 itself.

In 2017, UGC invited proposal for institute of Eminence from public and private institutions which also mentions about setting up new university of Eminence. which again the journalist in you might have missed while creating your propaganda based new episode of "Cover story"

So, Now next to the Greenfield category.
There are one more category which is "Brownfield" Category apart from Green field category.
While under govt category IIT Mumbai, Delhi and IISc Banglore were selected for IoE status and under Brownfield Category,Private institutions like

BITS pilani and Manipur University were selected and Jio University was selected under Green Field category which are proposed institutions.

What Jio University Gets Now ?
A Letter of intent.
Which says If in 3 years they fail to reach the commitments given the letter of intent will be cancelled.
It also means they have to work according to the plan to receive the Institute of Eminence tag.

Under Greenfield category, there were 11 institutions which applied but Jio University being the only one which satisfied all the parameters they have been selected and have given a letter of intent.

These were available in public domain already but still you chose not to see
