.@MartinPatriquin is fundamentally hostile to nationalism. Fine. But associating Québec nationalism with race is a mistake. Quebecers/French Canadians have never identified themselves by the colour of their skin. #polqc#cdnpolitheguardian.com/world/2018/jul…
The obsession with race typically comes from south of the border where race has been a factor of divide. Not in Qc and not in 🇨🇦 as a whole. The unifying characteristics of the Qc nation are: 1- French language 2- shared history 3- shared values 4- clearly defined territory.
Never race. The vast majority of Qbcers will always be hostile to imported concepts such as “white privilege” and “cultural appropriation” because they have fought hard to preserve their language and identity over centuries. French Canadians were never “privileged”. Au contraire.
Québec might be the only hope for those who wish to fight this new leftist trend of “post-nationalism” and cultural relativism. These concepts are met with very little resistance in English Canada. That’s unfortunate. The End. #polqc#polcan#cdnpoli
