As a former CIA officer, I never thought I'd see the day when the Commander in Chief would side with Russia over his own Intelligence and Law Enforcement Community.
The President's words at his press conference stand in complete contrast to the facts and contravene his basic responsibility to protect our country from all threats, foreign and domestic.
His own Director of National Intelligence reiterated today, 'We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy.'
It happened. It goes on. And when our President sides with Putin over his own Executive Branch he emboldens the Russian organizations set on threatening us.
All representatives, on both sides of the aisle, have a responsibility to speak out against the President's words today and to provide a check and balance on his actions.
I call on @RepMikeBishop to stand up publicly, with members of both parties, and make clear to President Trump that you can't and won't support him putting the interests of Russia over our own security. #MI08
