1. Had the misfortune of hearing a full-on, old-fashioned white Colonialist diatribe delivered on CKNW this morning by Bruce Allen on his not so "Reality Check" .
2. Bruce delivered all the typical supremacist big business standard lines of comradery. Bruce was speaking about the Kinder Morgan protest on Burnaby Mtn & to his audience to keep them focused on the 'right talking points'.
3. Bruce spoke about the water & land protectors in the most dehumanizing terms he’s allowed to on morning radio. He called First Nations peoples DTES homeless derelicts “unaware of what they’re protesting anyway”, merely looking for a place to squat.
4. The allies of Camp Cloud & all Kinder Morgan pipeline protesters of course are merely “bored housewives”.
5. This is/has always been the CDN mogul way – degrade, degrade, degrade the people who stand in the way of their ability to make a buck regardless of how destructive the nature of that cash grab.
6. Never mind that the industry is failing on its own, a sunset industry that even Kinder Morgan was happier to pawn off on CDA, not for lack of support, but because their own industry is waning. robynallan.com/2017/02/05/pip…
7. While CDA continues to promote sucking on pipeline teats, the rest of the world is avidly pursuing alternatives all for the sake of their own children & grandchildren.
8. Gee, wouldn’t it be something for CDA to be known for genuine innovation instead of the dismal record of its failings in resource extraction around the world?
9. While Bruce conveniently calls the people at Camp Cloud leeches on society, he also conveniently ignores the bail out this industry receives on the backs of to the tune of billions per yr.
10. Bruce conveniently ignores that Alberta has made more money from booze & gambling over the last 2 yrs than selling 3M barrels of bitumen per day. thetyee.ca/Opinion/2017/1…
11. Bruce & his cronies continually overlook the lack of a business case for their pipeline(s) here and the fact that the infrastructure to support Alberta’s oil production is already in place and will support the industry for decades. theprovince.com/opinion/op-ed/…
12. If anyone needs a reality check, it’s Bruce & his moneyed pals who have no compunction to continue to live the Colonialist dream at the expense of the original inhabitants, even as they deride them & continue to steal what was never theirs in the 1st place.
Let me clarify - the oil industry and resource co's in general that receive billions upon billions of subsidies on the backs of Cdns and the very Indigenous he derided.
