(1) anyways #ROGDWEEK2018 is anti-trans bullshit that places the feelings of the parent of a trans child above the feelings of the actual child and should be subject to close scrutiny. as a trans man, and seeing how this shit seems to be targeted towards young trans men,
(2) #ROGDWEEK2018 i feel as though i should speak up on it. i am not a woman who feels uncomfortable with my body like a cis woman would. of course, cis women might be uncomfortable with having a period, feel bad about the size of their chest, feel bad about their body -
(3) #ROGDWEEK2018 but the way this differs from the dysphoria trans men face is that cis women may eventually feel comfortable enough in their bodies to embrace them and feel completely at peace with no fear or sadness or need to change.
(4) #ROGDWEEK2018 for myself and many other trans men, that is not the case. you don’t like your chest? fine. you’re a woman who doesn’t like her chest. common enough. i don’t like mine either. the last time i measured, i was a 48 K cup.
(5) #ROGDWEEK2018 even with a chest binder on, dressed as masculinely as i can in order to desperately try to pass, i still am referred to as a woman by strangers. the difference between me and a cis woman who doesn’t like her chest? i’m a man and wish to be viewed as such.
(6) #ROGDWEEK2018 i have publicly identified as trans since spring 2017, and ID’d as non-binary for 2 years before that, starting when i was 15. one might say, gee, that seems late! must be rapid onset gender dysphoria!

not the case.
(7) #ROGDWEEK2018 before 2015, i didn’t know anyone in the LGBT community personally, didn’t feel compelled to look it up too much, and so never knew the terminology for what i felt. i had a strong self-esteem in regards to my appearance, so why did i feel wrong?
(8) #ROGDWEEK2018 enter the world of questioning gender! i went through many ups and downs, but eventually realized that hey, i don’t like being referred to with feminine pronouns. i liked it when people referred to me as a man. so, i tried it out...
(9) #ROGDWEEK2018 turns out i’m trans! go figure! despite the problems i have with how i present some days, i am still very sure of being trans. i am who i am, i like what i like, love who i love, and i’m a boy the whole entire time. imagine that.
(10) #ROGDWEEK2018 tl;dr: listen to your children. listen to their feelings. if they come to you about something of this magnitude, be respectful, and glad that they decided to place their trust in you. don’t try and talk them out of it or tell them they’re wrong. love them.
(11) #ROGDWEEK2018 that’s all we want. acceptance and love from the people we love the most. don’t let your child questioning their gender be something that can break their trust in you and destroy your relationship.
