The driver talked more than she listened. She was in position to gather info silently, but that’s not what she was apparently there for.
She *wanted* them to feel watched.

Having someone surveil you who wants you to know you’re being surveilled was my experience when I was in the USSR in 1985.
Our “tour leader” (KGB) brought up to us things we had said in the “privacy” of our hotel rooms. When I explored solo, I was indiscreetly folllowed.
