Has anyone used the GST online filing system? It is nothing but an online word processor. I don’t know why ₹ 1500 crore was spent on this. Thread (1/n)
All you do is fill the forms online. There’s no intelligence built into it. Data from one form filed earlier has to be manually entered into other forms. (2/n)
And of course, like all good secure sites, copy paste is blocked. So one needs to write down the number from one form and then enter it manually into other forms #GST (3/n)
And why is it an online word processor? No form will get auto saved before moving to next page. One needs to press save, wait for it to save, then move to next page. Even offline Microsoft word can manage auto save! 🙄 #GST (4/n)
How is it worse than google docs? Your saved form will be auto deleted in 15 days if you don’t submit it! #GST (5/n)
A tech system will reduce steps and improve efficiency. But #GST is a nightmare to use. For eg., to pay the tax, one needs to create a challan, choose payment mode, make payment, make ledger offsets, approve offset etc! Why not just press pay and be done? (6/n)
And the best part? To get refund, one needs to take a print out of all the forms filled online and mail it in! Or visit the #GST office personally to file the forms. Process would’ve been simpler if it was done on Microsoft word! #GST (7/n)
Clearly we didn’t have our best brains working on #GST (8/8)
