I’m asking you a question that may make you uncomfortable, that may make you recoil, that may make you hide, &/or that may make you retaliate in various ways.
You are the majority of people who vote.
Your vote has impacted our lives.
Yes white sisters & brothers, your. Your vote has impacted our lives.
This thread is not about making you feel guilty. Know that I write this with love to you because I love you & want better for our City. In order for our City to thrive we must work towards certain goals together.
We must ensure that our resources are rightly allocated to City services that nourish, empower, encourage, engage and build #communityUnity. We must ensure #inclusion!
...coping & thriving in society education, strategies & tools; understanding the impacts of #whitesupremacy on planning, policies, purposes & society and overcoming this together); #accessibility; literacy engagements; supportive Housing; our safe injection site;...
... creating & fostering opportunities for self-employment, encouraging #entrepreneurs; #jpopTORONTO (Joint Property Ownership Plan TORONTO - creating opportunities for #accessible home ownership); vertical organic farms; building accessible #housing;...
👉🏿 basic #humanRights -
Inclusive Public meetings (everyone is included aka no ‘accommodation requests necessary’ because inclusion aka basic human rights will already be provided); inclusive City operations; inclusive planning; inclusive design...
👉🏿 #accountability (Elected Representatives must engage with & respond to the Public including the questions the Public asks) the Public is the Elected’s boss; #transparency (in how, in what proposed way and in what way the Public’s money is used; decision in policy making)...
Every.single.election has demonstrated that you dear sister, dear brother have defaulted white. It didn’t matter that the individual running and you chose to elect had no plan or proactive ideas or equitable solutions- you defaulted white.
Sadly, you allow yourself to default white in media, print and promotion. As soon as media gives you a name of someone who looks like you for an election, you tend to fixate on that individual in ways that keep you from recognizing...
...that that individual has never been in the struggle in ways necessary to understand what this City as a whole has been lacking for decades.
.....
Have you ever asked, out loud or in your mind, why there weren’t more Elected PoC in Government leading the way with the necessary solutions we need while you vote for the white person in your action?
This all words not translated into action evidence has been a fundamental part of why we have what he have today. Why we are where we are today. Yes. It. Is.
The propaganda of fear has appeared to keep us bound to making the same mistakes over and over again.
The same type of people- white, wealthy, working in government tend be your choice. These same types of people have been in Government for however many years and we still haven’t arrived at having an inclusive City.
Do we ever want to get there- to arrive at being a City known to be an inclusive, equitable, engaging, accessible, vibrant, inspiring, empowering City where everyone has the ability to live & thrive?
Vote D!ONNE Renée on Election Day for Mayor and the list of Councillor Candidates that I’ll tweet about shortly who will ensure that we all have the ability to live & thrive!
July 30, 2018 will is the day the City Clerk lists all official Candidates for the 2018 Toronto Municipal Election. Check our track records.
.....
Check to see who devoted their backs, minds, heart, time and finances and resources to the struggle to make your life easier. This is the type of dedication required to finally get the necessary things done that have been outstanding for too long.
👉🏿 in and through the struggle with Community?
👉🏿 willing to suffer loss so others could succeed?
👉🏿 weary about the policies in place that oppress & are barriers for members of the Public who are underrepresented?
Will you finally choose #inclusion#equity#accessibility#empowerment engagement as the choice that ensures a vibrant, inspiring, empowering #TORONTO wherein we all have the ability to live & thrive dear sister & brother?
Together we succeed!
Together we succeed!
Together we succeed!
Together we succeed!
Together we succeed!
Together we succeed!
Together we succeed!
Together we succeed!
The important point to keep in mind regarding section 33 of the Charter of Rights & Freedoms is why it was included. Think about what was going on at the time and why the Charter was even created.
Sect. 33 is a white supremacy tool that was included to make white men feel safe.
Now that this fact has been said, let’s get to the heart of addressing the attempt to abuse power in order to maintain white supremacy.
It’s 2018, time to rule section 33 unconstitutional when used to subvert Canadians’ inalienable rights to a free & democratic society.
Some people learn from them and some people don’t.
During the time when then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and other white male elected Representatives were working on ensuring that underrepresented and marginalized Communities were protected
I’m writing to you as your TORONTO Mayoral Candidate because the media & supporters of status quo are doing their very best to exclude Black Candidates voices- as usual.
Have you been co-signing maintaining the status quo?
Have you turned away from your public chants of “end racism, stop racists, etc...” during this Election period and are instead prepared to publicly/quietly push what the establishment has been pushing just to get the results that you say you’re against?
