My research assistant @OLepinard will be on @bbcworldservice in a little over 2 hours to talk about the @Planet imagery of the North Korean #ICBM facility in Sanum-dong. #DPRK
@DaveSchmerler@ArmsControlWonk reviewed over 40 @planetlabs images of the site, and I even purchased a few more to see if there was any day when something "proved" ICBMs were under construction. 3/
The movable structure over the rail line at the launch pad is interesting. Speaking earlier with @DaveSchmerler, it feels more like a move towards verification/ confidence building. 2/
But, unless they dismantle the whole site, it will remain it will remain North Korea’s premier location for space launches. /3
Like Punggye-ri, this just means they don’t think thy have to test new designs. Except it’s even easier to build a test stand for a missile engine. #dprk
It doesn’t mean that they can’t make more of@them same icbm engines. #dprk

Kim Jong Un wants a lot.
- security guarantees which probably include written assurances, no new threats, end of joint exercises, troop withdrawal, BMD withdrawal, end of “US nuclear threat.” 2/
