"Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, in unusually pointed language, called on President Hassan Rouhani to do more to prop up the rial after the currency fell to a historic low this week in anticipation of renewed U.S. sanctions."
(2) You know the situation has become extremely intense when #Iran's #IRGC are calling on @HassanRouhani to take action about the currency plunge.
The IRGC controls much of the economy, answering only to Iranian Supreme Leader @khamenei.
(3) “The unique and extensive backing you benefited from in past weeks shouldn’t preclude you from taking revolutionary actions to control prices and prevent the enormous increase in the price of foreign currency and gold,” said IRGC chief Mohammad Ali Jafari in an open letter...
(4) "The call to revolutionary action comes from a powerful military organization that controls a range of local companies."
(5) Considering #Iran's severe internal political disputes, this is the IRGC (read @khamenei_ir) telling Rouhani how we backed you against Trump will not come cheap.
Rouhani could be taking this as a warning about the remaining of his term...
(6) "If senior Iranian officials have in the past expressed support for Rouhani’s efforts to shield Iran from the sanctions’ fallout, then the Guards’ language on Tuesday was harsher, demanding that he immediately take more forceful action to deliver results."
(7) After an "adviser to Rouhani said the U.S. would need to show that it respects Iran and is returning to the nuclear deal that Trump rejected," and such remarks from the IRGC, rest assured #Iran's regime is very hesitant about any talks with Washington, knowing the threats.
(8) This also proves that the likes of @HassanRouhani & @JZarif are no "moderates" or "reformists."
They're merely puppets of @khamenei_ir's masquerade.
(9) If #Iran had any true moderates or reformists seeking the people's interests, they would jump to this opportunity to reach terms with the US, roll back sanctions & restrictions, and actually start providing for the people.
(10) In #Iran under the mullahs' rule, there are no moderates or reformists. Period.
And this open letter from the IRGC proves how the status quo is very concerning, to say the least.
