I’ve tweeted about this before but the gravity of the situation has escalated. Please, do what you can to retweet and trend this #WeWantJustice because the world needs to know. Tag as many news sources as you can because there has been little international media attention.[Thread
On July 29, 2 school students in Bangladesh waiting for transportation were killed by a reckless bus driver, while 7 others were injured. The bus rammed into a crowd full of people. Since then, students nationwide in Bangladesh, and mainly the capital city Dhaka have been
peacefully protesting for safe roads a for all students. Protests have been going on for 6 days and the students have taken on traffic patrol in their own hands. You can read about it more here: bbc.com/news/world-asi…

Bangladesh has one of the most corrupt transportation sectors in the world and more than 4200 pedestrians were killed in road accidents the past year alone. The students have been peacefully protesting as well as enforcing traffic laws such as maintaining lanes,
ensuring that underage drivers and drivers without licenses do not drive on the streets.
The image on the left shows how the streets of Dhaka can get, while on the right is how students, standing in rain or shine have made drivers maintain order
There have been minor clashes as all protests lead to but in the last 2 days, things have worsened severely. Groups called Bangladesh Chatro League(BCL) and Bangladesh Shromik League (BSL), combined with the police, attacked school children today.
Here on out, it'll get gruesome.
4 girls were raped and abducted; they were taken hostage inside the Awami League Party office
40-50 other school girls are being held hostage there as well; the guys who tried to go and rescue them were beaten brutally.
One boy's eye was gouged out
Another student from Maple Leaf international school had his head bashed in. He was admitted in a nearby hospital
All of these things happened in Dhanmondi 3/A, Jhigatola and in front of Rifles Square (an area of Dhaka). Here are videos of the violence that occurred.
2 students from Bir Shreshtho Nur Mohammad school died today.
To describe how they beat up people, it was simple
besides harassing and groping girls and snatching their ornas/dopattas (scarves), they threw bricks at kids.
They even used tear gas, used rods and sticks to thrash
school children, and brought knives and machetes.
They chanted "we're gonna run the country".
A few of the kids tried to retaliate by using tree branches as defense. But most of them took shelter in nearby buildings.
And yes, the police might attempt a mass arrest tonight
And the government is attempting to shut down social media because that is how most of the movement is being organized.
These are children, fucking children that are trying to do something right for Bangladesh. They want justice for their slain friends, murdered by unruly traffic. Please, someone help us.
These are my brothers and sisters, my friends who are doing what they can to reverse a
corrupt system and they are being killed for it.
The woman in this video is sobbing at seeing how this child is being attacked by the league. "They killed him, those goons killed him. They killed these children, Oh God."
You can see these students running away for their lives from the league.

You can see this innocent girl beaten up.
The girl who was beaten up is said to have to been one of the rape victims.
The rumors are true. Hired people were attacking from the inside dressed as students, causing more mayhem.
You can even see police officers standing around not helping, one of them was literally recording with his tablet.
Supposedly the lights were turned off as well as the internet connection before attacking students in Basundhara R/A (a part of Dhaka).
The girl in the video "They have batons, they're coming from over there"
Please try tweeting the hashtag as well! Tag your mutuals or bigger accounts, we need all the awareness we can get. If this can get trending, the voices of the children and students of Bangladesh can be heard!
#WeWantJustice
Fair warning: these are gruesome pictures but a reality that took place.
Students from three universities have taken to the streets to protest against the Chatra league which brutally beat up students, resulting in some students' deaths.

The government gave the family of the two students who were killed by the bus (which started this entire event, the student protests) 20 Lakh (2,000,000) Tk, which is about 23,000 USD.

Justice for a life taken is NOT equivalent to $23,000

#WeWantJustice
I think that the hashtag is being blocked. We could try trending #WeDemandJustice instead.
Once again, there are many videos and images here that depict the true horrors of has has been going on. They are graphic as well.

The Voice of Bangladesh's instagram page also has video and images of the movement.

Please use this hashtag along with #WeWantJustice as it is trending worldwide #شاعرك_المفضل
"Police and alleged BCL men beat up three journalists of The Daily Star and molested another in the capital's Jhigatola yesterday afternoon."

The Daily Star is an English newspaper in Bangladesh.

This is horrifying. Students nor the journalists of a national newspaper can escape harassment and violence. She was taking a video and those from the ruling party dragged her off to the side and molested her.
#WeWantJustice
We don't just want justice for all the victims of traffic accidents and student protestors who have been harmed,

We demand it.

#WeDemandJustice
Lord, the government is actually sending out these texts to the general public.
Here are more google drive links with pictures and videos of the violence that ensued during this movement so far. TW, many of the images and videos are graphic:
