So does the #a2council anti party's argument really boil down to "Make Ann Arbor Great Again?" Sure seems like it.
For example, Eaton's treasurer is trying to rebrand the anti party as "The Neighborhoods" - Real Ann Arbor - and the council party as "The Powers that Be" - sounds like "The Elites" doesn't it? localinannarbor.com/2018/08/05/the…
Eaton and other NIMBYs love to rail against gentrification, conveniently forgetting that Ann Arbor was gentrified in the 1960s and 70s, when many of them came to town and displaced poorer residents.
They want to "Make Ann Arbor Great Again" by taking it back to the magical time when A2 was a sleepy college town. They want to talk about stopping all this development til we figure out what's going on.
They want to talk about what the upper limit of A2 population should be (I'm guessing less than it is now?) They want to put in "Ann Arbor First" policies that advantage those who own already over those who want to move here.
Anyway, for #a2council. Vote for a positive future, not a mythical past. Vote Chris Taylor, Chuck Warpehoski, Kirk Westphal, Graydon Krapohl, and Julie Grand. And in the 1st ward write in Barrel of Hair.
