@ishaantharoor writes a @WashingtonPost piece on returning US sanctions on #Iran.
No explanation of reasoning behind sanctions to depict an innocent image of Iran’s regime & a negative image of the Trump administration in the reader’s mind.
@ishaantharoor uses the phrase “renege on American commitments under the nuclear accord.”
Of course, no mentioning of #Iran’s long slate of #IranDeal violations.
Here’s just one example:
“Iran has ‘violated the deal on many occasions,’ according to Albright, who outlined efforts to avoid verification requirements and exceed the limits of heavy water, another nuclear byproduct.”
Then a stance to defend the Europeans and bad old Trump stoking “tensions between the United States and its Western allies…”
Amazingly, no mentioning of how #Iran’s regime has been using Western money to fuel its belligerence & deprive the people.
@ishaantharoor then blames #Iran’s currency nosedive on U.S. sanctions.
Of course, he won’t mention anything about Iran’s currency flight.
@ishaantharoor claims Trump’s has instigated #Iran returning to its bad practices, failing to acknowledge how this regime has constantly continued its negative approach to the West, thanks to the continued appeasement that climaxed during Obama’s tenure.
@ishaantharoor cites “Farid Dehdilani, int’l affairs adviser for the Iranian Privatization Org., a government agency” who criticizes the result of US' 2016 presidential election.
Of course, a selected “adviser” won’t say anything against the interests of #Iran’s regime.
@ishaantharoor then portrays the exact image #Iran’s regime wants all people to portray.
“Moreover, despite the mounting difficulties it faces, the regime is not about to crack apart.”
The writer fails to even mention the ongoing #IranProtests.
In a case of one #Iran apologist citing other Iran apologists, @ishaantharoor quotes. an article by “Iran experts” @DEsfandiary & @ArianeTabatabai.
I already debunked their piece:
@ishaantharoor then cites “Jarrett Blanc, a former State Dept. official who worked on the Iran deal under the Obama administration…”

Ishaan is truly going the distance to be as biased as possible in his piece.
If you want to know why #Iran’s economy is suffering, here’s just one reason:
@ishaantharoor then argues Trump is adding to the Iranian people’s strain.

My question for Ishaan:

Why didn’t you allocate a sentence of your article to #IranProtests with people chanting:

U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted the resignation of Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador.

My gut tells me an even bigger story will develop.

Rest assured #Iran's regime is terrified about who Trump/Pompeo will appoint as their new envoy.
Amb. Nikki Haley spoke six months ago with President Donald Trump about the subject of resigning.
Will be staying at this post until the end of the year.
Amb. Nikki Haley saying she will be campaigning for President Trump in 2020.

Add this to the long list linking #Iran's regime with international terrorism.

This time, the al Qaeda-affiliated al Shabaab militant group of Somalia.

More reason why a firm policy is needed against Tehran.
"Criminal networks are using Iran as a transit point for illicit Somali charcoal exports that earn Islamist militants al Shabaab millions of dollars annually in tax, U.N. sanctions monitors said in a report seen by Reuters."
"... domestic revenue generation by al Qaeda-affiliated al Shabaab 'is more geographically diversified and systematic' than that of Somalia’s federal government."

Reports indicate atmosphere in #Iran's parliament (the Majlis) is very tense as members review the anti-money laundering Financial Action Task Force (FATF) signing bill.
Sources say "hardliners" are voicing threats about the signing of this bill.

(File Photo)
"Regarding the FATF, should we commit suicide today by signing this bill because we're going to die in the future?" says Behrouz Nemati, a member of #Iran's Majlis (parliament).

Read more about Iran & the FATF here:
"Hardliners in Iran’s parliament have opposed passing legislation toward compliance with FATF standards, arguing it could hamper Iranian financial support for allies such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which the US has classified as a terrorist organization."

Short Thread:

#Iran's #FakeNews machine at work:

"It did not say where Zahedifar was arrested. In a video carried by state broadcaster IRIB, a blindfolded man who identified himself as Zahedifar denied he had fled Iran."
Here's the video.

What a coincidence (!), all of this developing just "a week after Tehran sentenced three people to death in a drive against economic crimes."
