been a fan of Michelle Yeoh since I was 8. When I saw "Yes Madam" with her and Cynthia Rothrock, it's a girl power explosion. I was hooked on martial arts films with subtitles. Look at this fight scene. Pure gold
Yeoh is one of the reigning queens of action cinema. She has been denied the crown for too long. As 1 of the only female stars whom Jackie Chan lets do her own stunts, the two met on set of a commercial and the rest is history.
Yeoh came into the business with no martial arts skills but decades of ballet training (she trained at the royal ballet in London) helped her pick up fight choreography faster.
But what really solidified her status as the queen of Martial arts is Supercop (1992 but released later in America) you wanna see some action, sis Michelle provides
Her follow up films: Heroic Trio 1&2, Wing Chun, Supercop 2, & Tai Chi Master were all big hits in Asia but the west had no idea. Then In comes Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
as the first Asian Bond girl in 30 years. Mind you she's one of the better portrayals of a 'bond girl' watch as Yeoh cleans house and Bond has the nerve to take the credit
Croaching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000) is when Yeoh became a Hollywood staple. What's unique about CTHD is it gave Yeoh an opp to show the in addition to fighting, she can Act. Fucking crime she wasn't nominated for her role in this film bc she deserved it
With a film career that spans three decades, Yeoh shows no signs of stopping. At 56 yrs old her filmography spans across genres and she continues to make history as the first Asian captain of a ship via Star Trek
Yeoh is a cultural advocate, a woman of class, a consummate professional and never undermines her talents. Put some respek on her name. She's going no where! ~fin~
