@jabdi & @SinaToossi of the #Iran apologist/lobbyist group @NIACouncil published a piece in @LobeLog criticizing U.S. President Donald Trump sanctioning #Iran.
Their main argument hinges on the Iranian people suffering from sanctions.

Of course, these #Iran apologist won't bother mentioning how the Iranian people have been crushed under the mullahs' rule for nearly 40 years now, with public hangings, floggings, limp amputations...
Their main objective is revealed here:

"...Pompeo and Bolton have flattered fringe and extremist Iranian opposition groups."

They're worried about #IranRegimeChange.
The word "fringe" is linked to a @WashingtonPost article by @jrezaian (another #Iran apologist), which I debunked when published.
The word "extremist" is linked to a @NYTimes video explainer by @ntabrizy (yes, another #Iran apologist), which I also debunked.
And BTW, I shed light on a very interesting relationship between @NYTimes & a state-run newspaper in #Iran (iran-newspaper.com).
@jabdi & @SinaToossi then repeat the old #Iran apologist narrative against any possible firm policy vis-a-vis their bosses in Tehran.
Then they call for policies supporting "Iran's integration into the global economy..."

No thanks. We all witnessed the disasters resulting from Obama appeasing #Iran.
No more.
@jabdi & @SinaTossii talk of "President Hassan Rouhani’s outreach to the West," not admitting to how @HassanRouhani is playing just another part in Iranian Supreme Leader Ali @khamenei_ir's masquerade.
@jabdi & @SinaToossi then argue:
"The real threats to repressive rule in Iran are a growing middle class, an organized civil society movement, and leaders who have the political capital to push for change against entrenched elements in the system."
I read the rest of the article looking for names, agendas... anything...
Unfortunately, (truly unfortunately), nothing found...
The writers then indirectly refer to Trump's policies propping up "Iran's repressive rulers with threats of war and invasion..."

Of course, they don't say how Obama's appeasement allowed Tehran to wreak havoc across the Middle East & advance their ballistic missiles...
"Trump’s punishing use of sanctions will wither away Iranian civil society by impoverishing Iran’s middle class."

What middle class? #Iran has over 50 million living in poverty.
Of the 30 million left, rest assured the majority are lower class...

"The sanctions will serve to increase control of the Iranian economy by unaccountable and repressive forces."

The writers won't tell you how #Iran's IRGC expanded its financial empire during the Obama's tenure.
Finally, @jabdi & @SinaToossi claim Trump & his advisors are "orchestrating a civil war in Iran..."

What they won't admit is how #IranProtests & an end to U.S. appeasement of #Iran's regime is terrifying them...

U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted the resignation of Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador.

My gut tells me an even bigger story will develop.

Rest assured #Iran's regime is terrified about who Trump/Pompeo will appoint as their new envoy.
Amb. Nikki Haley spoke six months ago with President Donald Trump about the subject of resigning.
Will be staying at this post until the end of the year.
Amb. Nikki Haley saying she will be campaigning for President Trump in 2020.

Add this to the long list linking #Iran's regime with international terrorism.

This time, the al Qaeda-affiliated al Shabaab militant group of Somalia.

More reason why a firm policy is needed against Tehran.
"Criminal networks are using Iran as a transit point for illicit Somali charcoal exports that earn Islamist militants al Shabaab millions of dollars annually in tax, U.N. sanctions monitors said in a report seen by Reuters."
"... domestic revenue generation by al Qaeda-affiliated al Shabaab 'is more geographically diversified and systematic' than that of Somalia’s federal government."

Reports indicate atmosphere in #Iran's parliament (the Majlis) is very tense as members review the anti-money laundering Financial Action Task Force (FATF) signing bill.
Sources say "hardliners" are voicing threats about the signing of this bill.

(File Photo)
"Regarding the FATF, should we commit suicide today by signing this bill because we're going to die in the future?" says Behrouz Nemati, a member of #Iran's Majlis (parliament).

Read more about Iran & the FATF here:
"Hardliners in Iran’s parliament have opposed passing legislation toward compliance with FATF standards, arguing it could hamper Iranian financial support for allies such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which the US has classified as a terrorist organization."

Short Thread:

#Iran's #FakeNews machine at work:

"It did not say where Zahedifar was arrested. In a video carried by state broadcaster IRIB, a blindfolded man who identified himself as Zahedifar denied he had fled Iran."
Here's the video.

What a coincidence (!), all of this developing just "a week after Tehran sentenced three people to death in a drive against economic crimes."
