(1) Let’s talk about Paul R. Pillar’s recent Atlantic Council piece on #Iran:
“Sixty-Five Years On: Iran Regime Change Advocates Haven’t Learned from Coup” atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/iransour…
(2) His very first sentence is a lie:
“The Trump administration’s policy toward Iran aims for regime change.”
(3) Yet the fact that Pillar launches his article with such a sentence makes me, as a reader, very suspicious of his entire objective.
With my knowledge of #Iran’s regime, "regime change" is EXACTLY what they’re terrified of.
(4) Pillar goes on to criticize demands raised by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo from #Iran’s regime. state.gov/secretary/rema…
(5) In my opinion, unless you’re an #Iran apologist, the demands raised by Pompeo from the Iranian regime – especially considering their 39-year report card of human rights violations, foreign belligerence & … – these demands are quite logical & reasonable.
(6) Here Pillar blows his cover of being an #Iran apologist & an advocate of the appeasement approach vis-à-vis the mullahs’ regime, despite the fact that we all witnessed how Tehran took advantage of Obama’s weak policies to wreak havoc across the Middle East.
(7) Pillar goes into detail about the 1953 coup d’état.
What he won’t tell you is that Alboghassem Kashani, a mentor of the Iranian regime’s current leaders, was in on the coup against then PM Mohammad Mossadeq and was a die-hard supporter of the Shah of #Iran back in the 50s.
(8) From:
Mark J. Gasiorowski, “The 1953 Coup d’État Against Mosaddeq,” in Mark J. Gasiorowski and Malcolm Byrne, eds., Mohammad Mosaddeq and the 1953 Coup in Iran (Syracuse: Syracuse University Press, 2004) liberalarts.tulane.edu/sites/liberala…
(9) Pillar also won’t tell you how #Iran’s mullahs, despite now deviously chanting “Death to America,” actually welcomed the 1953 coup d’état against Mossadeq. washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content…
(10) Pillars proves me write about being an #Iran apologist:
“In contrast, would-be regime-changers of today have no viable alternative to the current power structure to offer.”
This is a line used by Iranian regime lobbyists in the West.
(11) Pillar then talks about the Trump administration’s “apparent looking to the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK)…”
This is again another concern of #Iran’s regime.
(12) To back his argument, Pillar provides a link to his own article in The Lobe Log, a known leftist website.
This again signals the very concern of #Iran’s regime. lobelog.com/the-ugly-desti…
13) Pillar resorts to a low tactic of describing the MEK (@Mojahedineng) as a “cult,” a term know to be only used by #Iran’s regime & their apologists/lobbyists.
(17) Here’s another reason why I consider Pillar an #Iran apologist.
In this piece he praises Obama’s highly flawed #IranDeal that allowed the mullahs bring about enormous destruction in Syria & Yemen, advance their ballistic missile program & ... brookings.edu/opinions/the-i…
(18) All in all, Pillar places himself along other #Iran apologists whose main concern sare:
-The Obama appeasement years ending.
-The mullahs’ growing international isolation.
-The escalating #IranProtests evolving into #IranRegimeChange
(19) As always, the conclusion is yours to make.
I welcome any & all constructive feedback.
Thanks in advance!
