What has Pelosi achieved?

As House minority leader, she played crucial role turning back G.W. Bush’s attempt to privatize Social Security.

Key figure, more crucial than Obama, passing #ACA which produced spectacular fall in number of uninsured Americans.
nyti.ms/2OAxR09
Helped enact financial reform, which helped stabilize economy & protected many Americans from fraud.
Helped pass Obama stimulus plan, which economists overwhelmingly agree mitigated job losses from financial crisis, playing role in laying foundation for a green energy revolution.
Quite a record
Republicans say Pelosi is a wild-eyed leftist
Whats so radical about:

Protecting retirement income
Expanding healthcare
Reinin runaway bankers
Untouched by allegations of personal scandal

Amazin given the right’s ability to manufacture allegations out of thin air
How does Pelosi stack up against 4 Republicans who held speaker position since GOP took control of House in 94?
Gingrich, blowhard who shut down gov in fail attempt to blackmail Clinton to cut Medicare.
Led impeachment of Clinton over affair as he himself was cheatin on his wife.
Dennis Hastert, we now know, had history of molesting teen boys.
Personal behavior aside, “Hastert rule” under which Republicans could support only legislation approved by majority of their own party, empowered extremists & made America less governable.
John Boehner didn’t do much except oppose everything Obama proposed, including measures that were crucial to dealing with the aftermath of financial crisis

Paul Ryan, current(departing) speaker, flimflam man:
Fake deficit hawk, 1 legislative achievement is budget-busting tax cut
Fake policy wonk, budget proposals always obvious smoke & mirrors, pretending to address budget deficit
Redistributing income from the poor to the rich
In the final act of his political career he's shown himself to be a coward, utterly unwilling to stand up to tRump’s malfeasance
Lookin at modern Speakers
Pelosi stands out as giant among midgets
You’d never know from media coverage
Hastert was portrayed as embodiment of middle-American values
Ryan yrs fawnin media coverage lauded him as honest conserv after his phoniness was obvi to anyone payin attention
Pelosi is typically referred to as “divisive.”

Why?

She’s a political partisan, no more so than any Republicans who preceded & followed her.

Her policy stances are far less at odds with public opinion than Ryan’s attempts to privatize Medicare & slash its funding.
What makes her “divisive”?

The fact Republicans keep attacking her?

That'd happen to any Democrat.

Maybe it’s just the fact she’s a woman, a woman who has been far better at her job than any man in recent memory.
Does all this mean Pelosi should become speaker again if Democrats retake the House?

Not necessarily: You can make an argument for a new face despite her extraordinary record.

But her achievements really have been remarkable.
It’s a sad commentary on Republicans they have nothing to run on except demonizing a politician whose track record makes them look pathetic.

It’s a sad commentary on the news media, so much reporting echoes these baseless attacks.

On Nov 8, 2016, I was shocked, in disbelief, I cried all night, I cried for weeks on/off that America is sexist.
It made my anxiety escalate, made me depressed & insomniac.
What cheered me up was lookin forward to Nov 6, 2018.
Today sucks but we're 30 days closer to Nov 6.
VOTE!
What broke my heart 11/08/16 that America said, like today: we know dude sexually assaults women, we don't care about what happened to you.
Nov 8, 2016 & Today October 6, 2018 was an assault to #MeToo survivors.
As a survivor & mother of a little girl is a double punch to my gut.
On Nov 8, 2016, I was so happy thinking the nightmare hellish circle that took over America would finally be over.
Our kids went to vote with us, I told my baby girl Ruby who was almost 3 at the time a woman would be president, I told her every little girl can be president now.

The audacity of the "president"of the United States asking why Dr Christine Blasey Ford didn't contact FBI 35 yrs ago.
First of all it was not a federal crime for her to contact FBI.
Second of all she was 15.
I was groped at 7 yrs old, 30 yrs later still haven't told my parents.
A 12 yr old groped me under my skirt.
I froze.
Was paralyzed
Confused.
Scared.
My mom feet ahead of me, unaware of what was done to me at the school entrance, early in the morning.
I remember every detail of that day at 37 yrs old.
I thought I'd get in trouble.
It was traumatic.
When you get sexually assaulted no matter what age or how many years have gone by, you heal from it, you learn how to cope with the trauma & pain but the scars live with you til your last breath.
I don't let it define me.
My #MeToo scars are a reminder of my strength & resilience
