Politicians used to avoid creating power because once created, it can be used by their opponents. First clue something is super wrong: They suddenly don't care. Every #POTUS from now on will have #SpecialCouncel. Goal: Destruction of public confidence in elected governance.
That's crushed tight in a single Tweet, so let's dig in a little. First consider deeply:
One of the biggest caps on the expansion of power in our history has been the goose/gander problem of politics. "If I grant myself this power, the other side will also have this power." Trying to create one-sided political power could be considered the holy grail of US politics.
This cap on power has come in a few primary forms: new laws/regulations, establishing precedence, and public normalization. There are dozens of secondary forms all related to the primary forms.
But something has changed, and not for the better.
It has become like a runaway train of new powers created, especially in the realms of precedence and public normalization.
A sane politician would have once refused to support to the #MuellerInvestigation. Even #Democrats would have looked at it as a preemption of their own future pursuits by turning every action into question of wrong-doing.
Even more so, the #NeverTrumpers wouldn't have touched it with a 10 foot pole, once upon a time, because it falls even closer to their own throats.
Now that this has happened, how will there ever be another #POTUS who is not called into question by allegations requiring investigation?
And even if there is not support in #Congress to initiate a #SpecialCouncel investigation, at least the rumblings of wrong doing by our #CommanderInChief, whoever they may be, will weaken the Office.
So what then is the goal of those so eager to support this investigation which is now clearly, with no reasonable doubt, the product of at best a poisoned tree, and at worst, subversion by a sitting US President against a political campaign?
There are only three possible answers. The first possibility is raw stupidity and shortsightedness. I discard this possibility out of hand because one does not rise to #Congress without either being smart or having smart handlers.
The second possibility is much more likely and sinister: That there is complicity with the crimes which need to be buried by any means necessary.
Looking deep enough into anyone in #WashingtonDC will likely show complicity to SOMETHING, but it would need to be BIG to risk letting this genie out of the bottle.
The final possibility is the most disturbing of all: What if all of this weird support in #Congress and all of the backing of the #MSM is for the simple purpose of making our process of elected governance hopeless to the public?
Pole those around you and ask them if they have faith in not just our elections, but in the purpose of the elections: the people who represent our interests as a nation. I have and the results were not encouraging.
The end result of all of this is showing up much closer to home than #TheSwamp. It's all around us in the simple fact we can no longer discuss MORAL or ETHICAL issues which have been swept up in the dumpster of politics.
We are being told what we believe by our political affiliation and those who stand at the top seem to have gotten there by a rigged system that has no regard for the citizenry.
No matter how you slice this, #America is either about to get a second wind and become a stronger nation or go down in flames as yet another incubator of a self-cannibalizing society.
