If you have EVER wondered why the TN people have been so desperate to keep the #Mullaperiyar dam level at 142, here is the reason why. Vaigai dam's only way to fill up is through the 2300 cusecs of water it receives from MP dam.. It's filled to 69 out of 72 feet now! #Vaigai (1)

#Mullaperiyar water which just augments Periyar river in Kerala side, actually helps 5 big districts in TN side when it's allowed to fill the #VaigaiDam like it's done this year. Vaigai dam gets filled once in a decade, as a matter of fact without MP, it stands no chance (2)

Instead of getting swayed spuriously by the cunning characters like @jamewils who are propelled by Kerala gov & media, the courts should take a deep look at this Vaigai dam's significance to 5 driest districts of TN @ChennaiRains @sumanthraman #Mullaperiyar (3)

#Mullaperiyar has a capacity of 7.5. TMC coupled with Vaigai's 6 TMC can provide water supply not just to the farmlands of 5 districts but also satisfies their drinking water needs all the year. Opening of Vaigai dam is a celebration of its kind here! @ChennaiRains (4)

Instead of reducing the height of MP, both governments should look at increasing or putting up a new tunnel system to rise the current capacity of 2300 cusecs of Periyar-Vaigai tunnel, which will help reduce the chances of flood in Kerala & improve Vaigai! @sumanthraman (5)

This is the time for @CMOTamilNadu & TN gov to approach Kerala counterparts proposing this long term solution which help Kerala immensely to avoid flooding so that additional water can be utilized for filling up #Vaigai dam faster benefiting all @ChennaiRains @sumanthraman

The also reduces the possibility of spill or discharge from #Mullaperiyar dam over-flooding Idukki when it's full (once-in-a-80-year-event). All it needs a better capacity tunnel next/near to existing one, cost-wise it's manageable. @CMOTamilNadu @jamewils (7)
