In July/August 2018, Colorado Freedom Fund paid over $20,000 to post bonds and buy freedom for 22 people from Arapahoe County jail. And yes, that’s the jail where I’m set to serve 30-90 days.
Please follow/support @FreedomFundCO. Our work continues whether I’m in a cage or not.
If ever there were a time to try and make good from bad, this has gotta be it. I was convicted in 2015, appealed, fought hard as I cld for 3 years—still fighting with jail 36 hours away.
We can’t buy my freedom. But you can support @FreedomFundCO & help our people get/stay free.
Black people and allies have been buying each others freedom since we were first brought to this country.
The Colorado Freedom Fund @FreedomFundCO is just one of many teams collaborating to #EndMoneyBail in the U.S.
In June 2018 this young brother, M. Howard, was kind enough to let us post the $10 bond (you read right) holding him in jail. In August 2018 he spoke on my behalf.
“Black revolutionary type shit…like a Tupac or something” gotta be top-5 accolades I could ever receive.😆✊🏾
Thank you @rebekamendation for speaking up for me, thank you to EVERYONE who took time to write a letter of support seeking a reduced sentence.
My friend Tiffany is coordinating this effort—collecting letters through 8/23 midday. Here’s how you can help. facebook.com/events/4096716…
Here is the video of 5 Sept 2015. For these 10 minutes I was sentenced to 90 days jail, set to report to jail 27 Aug 2018. What we did was help a young man who'd had a terrible experience get home safe; cops called that "interfering with an investigation." facebook.com/elisabethepps/…
I know how many racists, misogynists, and other mean people will be cruel because I've shared this. But I encourage you to watch at 3 minutes left, when I incredibly politely ask if I can get my things and leave, and am told yes, how then Aurora cops follow and antagonize me.
Here is the transcript of 10 minute video that ended with me arrested, convicted, ultimately sentenced to 90 days jail: scribd.com/document/38685… 12 weeks. 3 months. Do you have any idea how many offenses don't merit 90 day jail sentence? (Stanford swimmer rapist maybe served 90?)
I cannot articulate how much and how often I wish I were better at just turning a blind eye, looking the other way, ignoring people. I get on my own nerves not being able to just ignore certain situations. Tonight is one of those nights.
I’d landed at America’s busiest airport some time after midnight. I found myself a lil couch, absolutely filthy but I guess that’s why it was available. I kicked away as much of the food waste as I could, at least I could lay down (albeit in a fetal position), but it’d do.
I’m napping intermittently, earplug in one ear, Audible reading @MarieKondo to me in my other ear. Eye mask on. Travel blanket and pillow and neck pillow deployed. I was so not putting out any vibes that said “hey strangers let’s interact.”
