For all practical purposes the safe water storage level in #Mullaperiyar dam wass considered safe upto as 152 ft but later reduced to 142 ft (YES SAFE according to SC order of Feb 2006). Please note it is NOT CAPACITY of the dam.

TN conformed to the CWC directive to reduce the water level in #Mullaperiyar dam from 152 to 142 ft (and also further to 136.4') pending strengthening work. Post strengthening by TNPWD and as decided by Justice Anand Committee it was allowed upto 142'

#CommieMadeDisaster Now that the relevant data context is set, back to Kerala Govt blaming TN for the #KeralaFlood Disaster citing release from #Mullaperiyar dam caused the flood and the ridiculous argument (and logic) it offered

#CommieMadeDisaster While Kerala maintained all of its own dam water level at 99% of capacity they insisted TN to release water from #Mullaperiyar from 136' itself. (this is 95% of accepted safety level not the capacity) it is 89% of 152 which is again disputed safe level

#CommieMadeDisaster Rightfully TN refused to oblige citing levels in other major dams in Kerala that were at higher levels and as a percentage, level at #Mullaperiyar is "significantly" lower. When it hit the 139 mark Kerala made a request again which again was rightfully refused

#CommieMadeDisaster Kerala approached SC to direct TN to reduce the water level in #MullaPeriyar 139 ft and CWC under direction of SC ordered TN to bring level down to 139' (reason? people living downstream were living in constant fear) This was on 23rd August (note the date)

#CommieMadeDisaster CWC also on 23rd August directed TN to keep their Kerala counterparts in the loop on the #MullaPeriyar water release schedule to bring the level down to 139'

#CommieMadeDisaster Time to now rewind to August 16th. Centre intervened upon request by Pinarayi Vijayan to advise TN (which was complied by TN) to maintain #MullaPeriyar water inflow/outflow at equal rate. Yes it was on 16th August

#CommieMadeDisaster Incidentally by August 16th #KeralaFloods had already created havoc and blaming "sudden" release from #MullaPeriyar is ridiculous to put it mildly. TN clearly says (in court) warnings were issued at 139' 2nd at 141 feet and 3rd at 142' (how is it Sudden then?)

#CommieMadeDisaster Now if you go reference the #MullaPeriyar water release directed by CWC on August 23rd, then the entire argument of Kerala flies on their face. By 23rd #KeralaFlood was already 14 days into destruction and what are they blaming TN for?

Now will @jamewils (not even asking TN authorities) care to publish the inflow/outflow data for all dams including Mullaperiyar. He won't
