/ If anything “good“ came out of the 2016 election (besides the wonderful emergence of black, WOC, women lead political & activist groups) it’s that we no longer have to be forced to buy the lies coming from decades of Republican leadership:
/For example, Lie #1: “That cutting taxes benefits everyone.” We know that the tax cuts don’t benefit everyone! The data has shown that the republicans #TaxScam is just that. We know that it only truly benefits the very rich. newsweek.com/republican-tax…
/We know that those who do benefit from the tax cuts, the very wealthy, do not reinvest in their workers; they re-invest in stocks and bonuses for themselves. vox.com/2018/8/2/17639…
/Lie #2: “Republicans are fiscally conservative and deficit hawks.” According to the CBO deficit will climb by 39% this year alone. Deficit hawk my arse. nymag.com/daily/intellig…
/ Lie #3 “regulation is a burden to business.” We no longer have to be forced to buy that lie from republicans. nbcnews.com/business/econo…
/We know with deregulation those who run big corporations will not be held accountable for polluting our environment, or crashing our economy! It’s clear that companies that benefit from deregulation need oversight & can’t be trusted not to destroy everything for profit & power.
/ Lie #4 GOP wants small government.” It’s clear that Republicans just want “small government” for their corporate donors and “big government” for tax cuts and to interfere with women & marginalized groups lives and rights.
Hypocrites.
/Lie #6: “entitlements and social services should be dismantled.” The GOP, lead by @SpeakerRyan have tried many times to drain Social Security to get rid of Medicaid and Medicare through privatization or straight up robbing them. washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2…
/GOP have tried to criminalize welfare & it’s recipients through hurling racist epithets, calling black welfare recipients lazy/welfare queens; while saying white folks just got “a tough break in life”. In doing so they’ve tried to pit white poor people against black poor people
/ Lie #7 “GOP uphold democracy.” By working to dismantle voting rights by instituting voter purges, voter ID laws while closing down DMV’s in poor black/rural areas as well as closing or shortening polling hours - the GOP want a “democracy” for rich straight white men only.
/ Lie #8 “They are patriots”: as the GOP continue to praise, uphold and support an illegitimate “president” who continues to violate the Constitution and is now implicated in crimes. newyorker.com/news-desk/swam…
/(Feel free to add more lies the GOP has been selling hours these past few decades.)
/ We can make a difference in 10 weeks from today! Do all that you can to get out the vote here are some organizations that are working diligently to do so: @theawparty @crush18midterms @swingleft @votedotorg issuu.com/mayacontreras/…
