Iran's AEOI Chief, Salehi tells Iran-Newspaper that if #JCPOA collapses Iran will most likely will stop implementing the Additional Protocol of #NPT- Says he's not the decision maker on the issue and "higher officials" will make the final decision.
Salehi adds that according to FM Zarif, some inside the country believe that if #JCPOA is undermined, then #Iran must abandon the #NPT because Iran is not benefits from it Adds, there will be severe consequences for it that "I don't want to think about them," #IranDeal
Salehi says @realDonaldTrump 's personality encourages him to "undo anything that [President] Obama had done. @BarackObama was the first black person that could become US President& was able to resolve some of the important international issues such as Cuba, Climate Change& #Iran
"So, Obama was becoming like a symbol- Trump wanted to destroy this. Domestically also, @realDonaldTrump did the same thing- and #JCPOA was one of them. Trump is actually saying that I must sign #Irandeal." Says #Iran's AEOI Chief Salehi.
Salehi says enmity with Iran is the common phenomenon of all American administrations.If #Iran wants to pursue the current track, the Americans will always remain our enemy. Salehi says none of @realDonaldTrump 's criticisms to #JCPOA were conveyed to us through official channels
Salehi adds that there were other issues besides #JCPOA's technical matters such as our missile program& human rights issues - Such criticisms were only reflected in the media& never through official letters.Says Trump's issue with #IranDeal is all about "ME" [Trump himself]
on the issue of negotiations, Salehi says it is very important for someone like Trump to reach a comprehensive agreement with Iran and put his own name on it. #Iran is very important for the US and if he manages it, he can become a symbol.
He says when the secret negotiations began the Americans were very interested in addressing other issues too- but SL Khamenei forbade us because of his lack of trust and emphasized that US always breaks its promises
Salehi says he has no information that Oman is secretly mediating between #Iran and US. Says he met with Omani FM Bin-Alawi last month and he didn't have that impression
Saleh also refutes claims that Iranian negotiators didn't properly update SL Khamenei; saying that he has been involved in the #nucler program since the end of #Iran-Iraq war and receives technical briefings on a regular basis. #IranDeal #JCPOA
