🚨“CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIP FUND” THREAD🚨

As Green Day once sang: “Do You Know Your Enemy?”

If not, we need to have a talk about the Congressional Leadership Fund (@CLFSuperPac).

THEY ARE THE ENEMY of the 2018 Midterm Elections and they WILL cost us seats IF we let them.
The CLF is a right-wing SuperPAC spearheaded by Paul Ryan. It’s goal is to lie about and smear as many Democratic candidates as possible.

They have raised more than $100Million from billionaires looking to keep the GOP in power.

Back in May, Paul Ryan personally solicited billionaire Sheldon Adelson for $30Million for the CLF. He made the pitch and then walked out of the room so that someone else could make the actual “ask”, in order to avoid campaign finance violations.

The Adelsons have since given ANOTHER $25Million on top of the original $30Million. They are single-handedly trying to buy the next Congress for their own personal gain.

And what has that money paid for? Lies. Distortions. Slander.

The good news, however, is that money doesn’t vote. PEOPLE DO!

But we still have to fight those lies so that people aren’t duped again.
How do we fight back?

*Donate. Even $5 can help counter their message.
*Know Your Enemy and what they're saying. If someone repeats a CLF lie, correct them.
*Call them out on their Twitter (@CLFSuperPac) and Facebook (facebook.com/CongressionalL…) accounts, but do NOT amplify them.
In #NY19, the CLF has issued racist attacks against Antonio Delgado for <gasp> releasing a rap album 10 years ago. A disgusting scare tactic in this majority white District.

In #KS03 the CLF used a “random” woman in an ad to trash Sharice Davids…and that “random” woman turned out to be a Kansas GOP official.

Democrats in Florida have 2 chances to make history in 2018:

1. By electing @andrewgillum to #FLGov.

2. By taking the FL State Senate back after *24* years.

If you know of ANYONE in Florida, or have ANY Floridian followers, please share!
The Florida State Senate is made up of 40 seats.

22 seats are currently held by Republicans, 16 are held by Democrats, and 2 are vacant.

Democrats need a net gain of +5 seats in order to take the chamber.
Florida State Senate elections are staggered, so only 22 of the 40 seats are up for grabs in 2018.

Gaining 5 seats is tough, but the numbers prove it’s doable.

Please spread the word about these Democratic contenders!

But before we get there we have to register NEW voters along the way, and deadlines are approaching fast.

Find your state(s) of interest and RT!
Every state has different rules, conditions, and dates…which can get confusing.

#OH12 left us with a cliffhanger. We all worked so hard to give @dannyoconnor1 an outright win. Yes it's a steep climb, but it could still happen. Either way, we did good!

Q2 Fundraising is over, and Democrats did a great job!

But I was chatting with @ybbkaren and an interesting question came up:

With SO MANY great candidates, how do we decide who needs donations the most? Many are worthy, but our personal funds are not unlimited.
So I came up with an idea for my own list of Dems who need $$$ based upon the following criteria:

*They have won their primary
*They are trying to flip “swing” GOP-held seats (per @CookPolitical ratings)
*They are behind their GOP opponents in “Cash on Hand” (per @OpenSecretsDC)
That’s not to say that other Democrats in swing districts are not worthy. They are. But the following, from a strategic $$$ perspective, might be the best place to donate *for now*.
