Something men realise but many women (including my critics) do not: it's not immodesty but #modesty that gives men power over women. It means they can embarrass and demean women. In turn, well-intentioned men seek to "protect" women by limiting their freedom to work & travel. 1/4
The cult of #femalemodesty doesn't help women - it leaves them vulnerable to daily abuse & to restrictions. It also leaves them feeling out of touch with their own bodies - as if their body is rude and alien. It gives men power over women - both inside & outside the bedroom. 2/4
#Modesty isn't freedom. Feeling confident and unashamed about your body *is*. It removes your vulnerability - the possibility of being embarrassed & demeaned. You are free from that daily struggle, & at peace with your body. Men no longer have power over you - you have power. 3/4
Hence why #NakedFeminism drives the worst kind of man crazy - it's a threat to their control. They send you criticism & verbal abuse in an *attempt* to wrestle back control. But, when you are confident & unashamed about your body, it simply won't work: you’re free of them! 4/4
