1] This Friday, September 21 is being recognized as National POW/MIA Recognition Day 2018 in United States of America.

Being a very grateful [and studious] #VietnamWar veteran, I have found that the beginnings of the war in SE Asia...

2]...correspond with the beginnings of the [#CIA]; which operated to create a HOT war in SVietnam, at the beginnings of the #ColdWar, and directly after the French were defeated in NVietnam.

Most recently, the #officialMIA number ...

It is estimated that approximately 500 MIAs occurred during the ten-year period from 1953-54 to 1964-65, when operations there were held TopSecret by the [#CIA].

4] The [#CIA] remained in control of the *hot wars in both Cambodia and Laos. The number of possible POWs left behind in Cambodia was probably less than 100 < American prisoners were observed as being held in small camps in numbers, from 20 to 40; but the Khymer Rouge policy,,,
5] ...was to eventually transfer their American POWs to NVietnam.

However, the Pathet Lao policy was to keep all America POWs under their control. Only nine POWs were returned from Laos; all who had fallen under control of the Peoples Army of [North] Vietnam [PAVN]
6] Again, the war in Laos continued to be operated by the CIA who would not release the numbers of POWs being held their by the Pathet Lao, BUT unofficial American estimates are approximately 600 POWs left behind in Laos.

Many of these POWs left behind in Laos may have been...

POW / MIA ~ Remembering ALL Those Lost
Before the Vietnam War, American prisoners were missing from previous wars. #MAGA
8] According to a POW/MIA Accounting Booklet provided to the League of Families meeting on June 7, 2001. [Numbers are approximate]

•Over 78,000 missing from WWII
•Approximately 8,100 missing from the Korean War
•Reports that Russia held American prisoners from WWI <?>
9] •Approximately 2,500 Americans were listed as MIA at the end of the Vietnam War. Soviet Union intel at that time [*released 1990s] indicated that about 1,200 Americans were being held as POWs in North Vietnam.
10] During “Homecoming Days”, beginning in February 1973, only 586 American POWs returned home
457 pilots and air crew from North Vietnam [PAVN]
93 U.S. military from South Vietnam [PAVN]
27 U.S. civilians from South Vietnam [PAVN]
9 U.S. military from Laos by the [PAVN]
11] May 19th, 1973 President Nixon told the American public that all POWs had returned home, and no one had been left behind. Those who were trying to make a proper POW accounting had comments

NSA Jerry Mooney indicated that only 5% on his list of 400+ known POWs returned ...
12] Although American military and intel agencies knew that approximately 600 American POWs were being held in Laos, the official statement:

"No American prisoner held in Laos was released from Laos" .. soon changed to .. "We had not knowingly left anyone behind"
13] Through the years since, the #Pentagon has revised their policy toward POW/MIAs from ensuring a proper accounting to 'clearing the books', and finally 'de-bunking' claims that American POWs remain in SE Asia.

What happened?
14] Maj. Mark Smith, USArmy Special Forces (ret.), said "You are talking about people who have no feeling whatsoever for the individual soldier in the field. Their answer to all this is to build a black wall in Washington and put all their names on it to pacify you and I."
